This little book is intended to give you a careful selection of usual expressions and common phrases, which should prove helpful when travelling to Yugoslavia and enable you to find your way, make a reservation, do the shopping with confidence or obtain the information you might require. If the pronunciations prove difficult, you must not hesitate to show the book and point to the relevant phrase. There is no actual "Yugoslav" language; in fact the major tongue of the country is Serbo-Croat, Serbian being written in Cyrillic and Croat in Latin characters. There are slight difference between these two languages, but the traveler need have no fear of being misunderstood when using the phrases given in this book.
