Honk Honk! Beep Beep!

Father and child rise early for a trip to watch the sunrise on the mountaintop. Along the way they meet many friendly faces, some headed the same direction, and others in their own vehicles—big rigs, bulldozers and trains--with their own places to go and things to do. Nothing beats the start of a brand new day, especially when there are many vehicles to spot along the way.

With a simple, playful text and boldly colored, toy-like illustrations, Daniel Kirk captures the fun of a special drive.

My four-year-old son checked this book out from the library last week.

So many things I like about this book: The story, the refrain, the delightful illustrations. My only criticism would be that, at four, my son is too old for the story. The text is maybe too long for a toddler, and the story is too young for a preschooler.

Good storytime book for transportation, toy themes. Kids will enjoy saying "honk, honk, beep, beep" along with you throughout the book. Kirk's illustrations are similar to his work in Lewis' Chugga Chugga Choo Choo.

I like that the characters are toys. Bright colors to keep interest. And a great participation with the repeated honking. But it seems a little young for the preschoolers and a little long for the toddlers. I may use it with toddlers and just end it sooner.

At story time today the kids really enjoyed this book. They loved saying "Honk! Honk! Beep ! Beep! whenever it came up in the story. Reccommended for any vehicle-obsessed toddler in your world.

It is so very good!
I actually re-read the book today when I was at work!
The little girl who I nanny also enjoys reading.
This makes me so happy because book reading is my passion and my enjoyment!

I definitely would recommend this book to children ages 2 to 8 years of age!

A bit on the long side for toddlers, the story is a bit simple for preschoolers. But, both situations are easily remedied: paper clip a few pages together to shorten it for toddlers or lay some groundwork first with preschoolers by discussing the possibility of their toys waking up at night (a la Toy Story) or getting them super engaged calling out each "Honk, Honk, Beep, Beep!" A fun read aloud.

Mommy thought this was just all right, but I'm obsessed with the colors!

Aside from the delightful titular refrain, the plot elements are full of inadvisable road safety practices that are inappropriate to model.

Great illustrationa and coloring. The story sounds interesting, but my infant and I found it a bit boring.

I won this book through the Goodreads First-Reads program. I received my copy in the mail yesterday and read it to my 9 month old son. He actually really seemed to enjoy it. It has a great rhythm to it and the illustrations are bright and colorful. I'm sure I'll be reading it to our little guy again and again!

The verse in this book is engaging, and I like the unique twist in that as the book goes on, the reader sees that the characters depicted are actually toys in the room of a young boy. Still, the style of illustration is not my favorite.

Simple, repetitive and fun. However I couldn't help but notice how rude the toys were honking in every situation- not something I want to encourage in my toddler.

When a father and son set out early one morning for a cross-country drive in their jeep, they see all sorts of vehicles and pick up diverse passengers along the way.
