With candor and detail, Emmitt Smith takes us onto the field and into his life. From Escambia High School to Texas Stadium, from the rough and tumble on the field to the down and dirty at the contract table, The Emmitt Zone recounts the accomplishments and frustrations that follow this NFL celebrity.
Emmitt Smith is best known as NFL's all-time leading rusher of the Dallas Cowboys, 2010 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, and Dancing with the Stars champion. Emmitt is also a successful real estate developer, and he appeared in early 2010 on NBC's reality series, Who Do You Think You Are? In addition, Emmitt and his wife, Pat, are generous philanthropists in the Dallas area.
Decent read ... overall kinda pretentious for a 24 yr old to write a memoir and not be able to capture the latter half of his own career, which would have included a 3rd super bowl win and his career with the cardinals.
Emmitt wrote this when he was 25. Still in the prime of his career. Pretty full of himself but it’s an awesome read and i feel like i really got to know him and what was going on with the Cowboys. Wish he had something more recent as well
This book was a great credible source about the topic of this book because this book is about Emmitt Smith and it is written by Emmitt Smith. Unfortunately he has not written any other books but there has been a lot of other books about him.
The author wants the reader to feel that you should never give up on your dreams and always keep believing what you believe in.
One quote from this book is he says "that even though I had dislocated my shoulder I knew that I had to keep running because this game was to important to our team." Another quote is he says that he "kept trying and trying to be one of the best running backs in the league." He knew it wasn't going to be easy. The third quote from this book is, "I knew in the end that all my hard work paid off in because we won a title and I am now in the hall of fame." These quotes reflect on how the author wants us to feel what he had to go through to be where he is now.
Emmitt Smith was born May 15,1969. He went to the University of Florida for college. He played in the National Football League for 15 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and the Arizona Cardinals. He was inducted into the National Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
Notes from February 2000: Todd gave me this book for Valentine's Day. I didn't want to read it because I thought it was pretentious for a 24 year old to write an autobiography. However, I liked the book and I love Emmitt Smith.
