With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.

"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."

The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.

Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.

A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.

In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.

When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.

The book,Dream Mender by Sherryl woods was excellent. I really identified with the heroine and what she had been through. The bonus book was dopey and I think I had read it before so i did not finish it.

The main character ends up in a burn unit. His hands are burned badly. He is ornery as he is not used to having anyone do anything for him - he has always taken care of everyone else! He builds & hand carves furniture. Right from the beginning he brushes off his physical therapist. She has a knack for bringing him to realize he needs to do the therapy in order to have the ability to get back to what he loves to do. The story progresses through his rehabilitation & the relationship with his therapist. As always, Ms. Woods writes believable stories, characters & conversations. I recommend any book Sherryl Woods writes to anyone who wants a good, believable story & wants to read for pleasure!

Two stories of wounded men and the women who love and help heal them. Dream Mender concerns Frank, who had burned hands from an accident, and his occupational therapist Jenny. Stay… revolves around the mysterious Jefferson, and the woman who’s loved him forever, his little “sister” (not really), Emily.

I did not realize this was a collection of stories/authors. Dream Mender was okay but the second novel, Stay by Allison Leigh, was much better. Easy reading when you have nothing better to read.

Enjoyed both books in this combined volume, but, especially STAY.
Both books had believable characters and great back story.
DREAM MENDER: Ms. Woods was especially sensitive to the problems of the two protagonists. Frank because of his badly burned and scarred hands. And Jenny, his therapist and future lover/wife, because of her terrifying battle with breast cancer that left her with multiple emotional scars. It takes awhile for them to recognize that they are 'meant' for each other. Big, blustery, opinionated Frank could be gentle and loving. Jenny did not put up with any guff or stubbornness on his part during therapy, but she developed a loving, caring relationship with his boisterous family.
STAY: Ms Leigh created a beautiful, yet complicated story for her characters; Jefferson Clay and Emily Nichols. Having grown up in the same household, Emily was looked upon as the "little sister" of the family--although of no blood relationship.-. She was taken in and raised by a friend of the family when her parents were killed. The patriarch of the family, Squire Clay, was extremely opposed to any 'fraternization' between his boys and Emily. However, Em had loved Jeff almost from the start and he was attracted to her. But, he was forbidden to stay at the ranch and was kicked off the property by his father. They grow up and he becomes a counterintelligence operative who returns home badly injured and blaming himself for the death of his partner. Emily leaves the ranch to go to college and pursue her career as an accountant. They both return to the Double C Ranch in Wyoming when Squire has a heart attack and is in a coma. Emily continues to pursue Jefferson and eventually they come to realize that their love for each other cannot be contained or dictated by his father. Squire goes back to the ranch, and things heat up. Squire forgives Jeff and lets him remain on the ranch. He even, though grudgingly, approves of their love affair and they marry.

Hoping for a quick read that would be able to draw me in quickly and let me escape. However, I was a bit disappointed, purely on the aspect of story predictability.

Tradegies are just that, but when they happen to the leading male character they can sometimes backfire on the reader. Which in my case, it did. I knew exactly where this story was going as soon as the characters were introduced.

Frank Chambers, a strong and virile man, suffers serious injuries and now just wants to be left alone. Jenny Michaels, the leading female character in the book, is an occupational therapist who comes into Frank's life to try and help him. Bullying and badgering her way into his world until he can no longer resist her.

As the reader, it provided me with some thought on learning to live the life that has been dealt to you, and how the power of love can help you along the way. Would I have reacted the same way as Frank if something so awful had happened to me? Would I be headstrong and fierce if I was Jenny the therapist?

This is actually two stories by two different authors. Sherryl Woods' Dream Mender is a good story about a man recovering from burns on his hands, which he uses for his livelyhood and the person assigned to his physical therapy, who has some unresolved self issues. All the characters in this story are lively and entertaining. The second story is by Allison Leigh was very strange. The romance is lively but a little offsetting. There's a 'family' situation involved and the author tends to lead us in a misdirection that's not to my taste. The saving feature is the interesting family interaction.

Dream Mender is where a man ends up in the hospital after saving a co-worker in a fire and gets his hands burnt in process and has to have physical therapy or he wont be able to sue them again, the therapist however is as stubborn in he is and never gives up on him and finds love with a man just a stubborn!

I adored this though the "Extra" book , if i remember correctly, makes up most the book but I loved it just as much!
- Stay by Allison Leigh - is about a woman who has loved man since she was really young but has to fight to prover he love him to him and get him to accept it before its to late!

"This is a really nice story, very emotional. It's a good story about the emotional pain a burn victim suffers. ... I loved all the characters in this story, they are lively and entertaining. Frank's large family is boisterous but yet devoted and supportive of each other. Hope to read more stories about Frank's siblings. Loved the ending!" from a review posted by an eHarlequin.com member, to read more go here.

First book....not impressive at all. Too short to do a lot of development. True love developed practically overnight. Only 2 stars for that one.

But, the 2nd story by Allison Leigh, Stay, was very enjoyable. I've never read her romances before but would be happy to read one again. Fun characters, bantering back & forth, like brother & sister at times and wanna be lovers at other times. If you like paperback romance novels, you'll enjoy this one.
