Talking to a buddist girl one night she asks: "Jason, where do you get this great quality from??? I really want to learn that from you! What do you do when you are upset with a person? I need to give you an interview. And take notes. And I am dead serious."
I spill the beans and go for broke: "I can take zero credit. It all comes from reading about Jesus in the Bible. That is it. Nothing more. Jesus transformed my life a long time ago. He is my Light. He shows me Life, Truth and the right way to do everything that is noble, pure and good."
She replies: "Hmm... That is a powerful statement. I am illiterate about bible, but if that's the reason what makes you such a great person, then I def want to study that. You are changing my life."

As one of the credited development editors who worked on this Bible (ten years in the making), I must say I'm biased in its favor. The translation of the Scriptures employed (Contemporary English Version) is easy to understand and beautiful to the ear; the notes are helpful but not argumentative (therefore suitable to readers of every denomination); and the artwork (drawn from every era and culture of the world, not just that of Renaissance Europe) powerfully demonstrates how widely dispersed and profoundly influential the Bible's message has been. The Learning Bible has everything a person who's never read the Bible all the way through (but who sincerely wants to) needs to accomplish that goal: background essays, mini-articles, Bible book introductions (with outlines), charts, diagrams, reflection questions...and all that beautiful, full-color artwork!

I love this Bible version. It is so easy to understand and read. I have had mine about 10 years and have just about worn it out. Ordering a new one!! Plain English so easy to comprehend!! Has a plan in back for reading through the Bible in a year! Has many many helps and articles to assist in learning about Gods Word and its history.. LOVE IT!! Get one if you haven’t already! You won’t be disappointed!!

I loved this Bible. Although I prefer the King James when researching, this Bible is easier to read AND has a lot of great extra content. There are maps, diagrams, and extra articles on specific topics to help you understand the culture of the time. It also has helpful info on the side of every page referencing specific verses, as well as referencing OTHER verses that relate. If you want to read the entire Bible, but feel intimidated by the language, start with this one and go from there! The Bible is more interesting than any soap opera, so if you have always felt you wanted to read it but haven't, do it now!
