Are you ready for a change? Spend a month with Marilu! "Health is not just about weight or appearance, but rather a much bigger picture. I really believe that you can't be a healthy person unless everything is working together. Your body, your mind, your living space. Live in my world for 30 days and I promise you will feel better." -- Marilu
I know, most of the time i can't stand facing the truth, but her writing style is entertaining to read and what she is saying makes sense. It also seems fairly realistic and I'm completely dedicated to the idea of giving up dairy. With my sinus problems and other issues it would be so beneficial. I want to be an active grandma and great grandma someday.
Just another book which is all Marilu, all the time. After reading a couple of her health books, I can't stand her. I can't stand her books. She's just all about self-promotion. This book is weird. It doesn't change anything. It just gives you ideas on how to clean your house and shop for whole foods.
I thought this view of health was very interesting and I actually followed it pretty closely when I was living in Taiwan, but found it harder to follow back here in Utah. But still I did it for 3 or 4 months here, too, until I craved a big fat juicy steak when I was about 10 weeks pregnant. Then it was all over. It includes lots of good recipes and other health tips. Scott even followed it with me, and I have to say we felt better than I can remember ever feeling. So the basis of this book is proper food combining, along with eliminating certain things from our diets (sugar, meat, dairy). I love fish and it was easy to come by in Taiwan, and they don't really eat much dairy there either, so it was pretty easy to follow while we lived there. I actually wish we were still living this way right now as I see my extra weight from the baby that I really want to get rid of...
This was okay - skimmed through it simply because I've read all her other books. If you've ever said, "If anyone just told me exactly what to eat and do to lose weight," this is the book that does just that. There is a day-by-day guide for every bite to take and then some, including organizing everything from your pantry to your shoe closet! More in-depth info is found in the Total Health Makeover which I liked better - depends what you are looking for.
This is the book that started me on my vegetarian path 12 years ago, as well as help me realize my love for cooking and for good wholesome foods. I heard Henner speak at an event, picked up the book and a new life started for me.
