Kevin Trudeau is an American author, salesman, and television personality known for promotion of his books and resulting legal cases involving the US Federal Trade Commission. His ubiquitous late-night infomercials, which promoted unsubstantiated health, diet, and financial advice, earned him a fortune but resulted in civil and criminal penalties for fraud, larceny, and contempt of court.
In the early 1990s, Trudeau was convicted of larceny and credit card fraud. In 2007, he was accused of grossly misrepresenting the contents of his book, The Weight-Loss Cure "They" Don't Want You to Know About. In a 2004 settlement, he agreed to pay a $500,000 fine and cease marketing all products except his books, which are protected under the First Amendment. In 2011, he was fined $37.6 million for violating the 2004 settlement, and ordered to post a $2 million bond before engaging in any future infomercial advertising.
In 2013, facing consequences for non-payment of the $37 million judgment, Trudeau filed for bankruptcy protection. His claims of insolvency were challenged by FTC lawyers, who maintained that he was hiding money in shell companies, and cited examples of continued lavish spending, such as $359 for a haircut. In November 2013, Trudeau was convicted of criminal contempt, and was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison in March 2014. The Chicago Tribune reported in April 2014 that infomercials starring Trudeau and promoting his books continued to air regularly on United States television stations even though he was in jail at the time. Trudeau left federal custody in 2022 after 8 years, after which the FTC continued to pursue the unpaid $37 million fine.

This book is worth the read because some of the tips are good, and there is a good chance you will find some money, even if it is not a lot. I didn't find anything for myself personally (yet) but I haven't exhaustively searched everything yet either. A quick search did find lost insurance policies and paychecks for friends and family members though, so that was worth it!

I liked the fact that it is a quick read, and the book sifts through a lot of the nonsense and gives you the important info to start searching. It was not particularly well written though, and some of the information was redundant. They could have easily cut out a couple chapters without losing any valuable information. The first two chapters are repetitive self promotion from himself, but you can get through them quickly from skimming.

You could probably find these resources without the book, but it does give you an easy to read, short format to start looking, so I would say it was worth the purchase as long as you have the right mindset. This isn't to get rich, it is to find money that could be yours and it's a good way to start looking.

This jackass is in jail. Thank you, Judge Gettleman!

"Trudeau was jailed for contempt of court Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Robert Gettleman in Chicago for failing to pay a Federal Trade Commission fine." A $37 million fine.

The fine equals the amount of money customers paid for the jackass's books.

"Ironically, Trudeau's writing career evolved after a settlement with FTC, which banned him from selling products other than books. The $37 million fine was levied against Trudeau for violating the FTC settlement."

Did the jackass think the law would not catch up with him?

"Trudeau was convicted in 1991 of fraud for charging over $122,000 on stolen credit card numbers and spent two years in federal prison."

Maybe he just misses prison or something.

This book was pretty good at pointing out free resources, but by the time that this book arrived in my hands, most of the programs werent available anymore, or was an invalid website, but i did get some advice on where theres free money.

A very quick read that makes a lot of sense and uncovers some very good knowledge-- I still have yet to try it-- for people to take advantage of the government's fat and foundation's obligations. I would recommend this book to everyone, especially in this economic environment. There's nothing wrong with getting something for free or at a big discount... after all, it allows you to spend your money on other areas that are important to you!

I really loved the NATURAL CURES book, so I thought I'd give this a go. This maps out ways for some people to retrieve money due to them that they didn't know about, but me, I don't forget bank accounts, and I cash checks right away, including tax refund checks. I did find some ways to save money and got something free, though: eyeglasses. Well, I hsd to pay the shipping.

Should have bought this used...or better yet free. A lot of the websites listed in the book are not working links. However, the ones that do work are great resources. This has opened up the possibility of saving me a lot of money that I already don't have.

meh. I wasn't really surprised with most the suggestions of where to get "free" money: coupons, tax deductions, grants, scholarships. I did go to unclaimed.org and found lost money for my dad and sister.

I still have the urge to procrastinate even after reading the book. There are some good tips especially about the grants for businesses.

This was a great library sale find. I learned about websites that you can search your name for unclaimed money. It should pay for itself.
