I enjoyed some Anne of Green Gables books as light, quick reads and didn't expect anything more of Chronicles of Avonlea. But Montgomery is better with short stories than novels, and the Chronicles collections are a lot of little gems reflecting different aspects of life: hope, romance, loss, redemption, death, forgiveness, and humor. Very surprised, very delighted.

One of the few books written about WWI from the perspective of Canadian women. Montgomery is one of my favourite authors. Her books are like comfort food.

I read this one in high school some time.
