My five yr old loved reading this, and it was the perfect difficultly level for him. Of course I was bored to tears and no way is Superman cooler than Wonder Woman, but hey, at least he's reading.
I’m honestly not sure if this is sad or not... I’ve been reading about superheroes for a long time and the first Superman book I’m giving 5 stars to is this picture book intended for readers who are many years younger than me... yep.
What’s it about? Bizarro Superman ends up on Earth so Superman has to stop Bizarro Superman from messing up everything.
Why it gets 5 stars: The story is really fun. The art is very well done. The characters are well written. The action scenes are surprisingly good! The highlight of this book is how funny it is! This book has some fantastic humor. I always like Bizarro stories because it’s so funny how backwards Bizarro’s world and brain are. This is surprisingly unpredictable. Usually both DC superhero stories and picture books are quite predictable but this one isn’t because of how unpredictable Bizarro is which is one of the reasons he’s a great character.
Overall: This is fantastic, fun, quick and exciting. It may not be a deep book that will forever change your life, in fact it’s a little picture book so nobody expects a deep, meaningful, life-changing book but this certainly is a fun one! Oh, and Bizarro is very underrated.
Just challenging enough reading level wise where my 4 year old could take turns with me reading every other page. He learned the word “Metropolis” and hearing him say “Bizaw-woh” was cute as hell.
Superman meets his evil backwards twin, Bizarro. Bizarro goes around town trying to help but he keeps causing trouble by doing everything backwards. Superman convinces his that he is doing more harm than good so Bizarro returns to Bizarro world. This is a great book to get young boys excited about reading. You could also use this book to talk about opposites.
