Kaffe Fassett's Quilts en Provence: Twenty Designs from Rowan for Patchwork and Quilting

Rate this book
Journey to Provence, France, and take pleasure in 20 beautiful new quilts that feature all the romance of a time gone by. Kaffe Fassett's Quilts en Provence is a study in geometry and color set in the South of France, where narrow streets and vibrantly hued buildings provide a medieval backdrop. Based on Kaffe's signature line of Rowan fabrics, the pieces have been designed by some of the world's finest quilters, including Liza Prior Lucy, Pauline Smith, Roberta Horton, and introducing Philip Jacobs, a longtime designer for Rowan who specializes in floral prints. Complete instructions for creating each museum-quality quilt are included along with tips and techniques that Kaffe has gathered in his more than 30 years of experience. Every quilter will treasure this next book from an international quilting celebrity.

Not going to give stars cuz I didn't read anything but the photo blurbs, so I'm not sure how the instructions are. I liked the quilts as finished projects, like fabric eye-candy, but the patterns and instructions for each quilt were so repetitive, and I get bored easily if the things aren't varied much. Like I said, pretty to look at, but I wouldn't make any of them.

Nice quilts, primarily because of original use of colors omitting all use of whites. Colored fabrics sit next to each other, and big stripes make up blocks and borders. The wonderful use of colors is breathtaking.

His use of color and pattern is unsurpassed. Clipped two patterns for possible use with NZ fabrics (in some future life where I am actually quilting again).

Welp, this was the last-chance book. And it also sucked. No more Kaffe Fassett for me.
