From the same author that brought you the Flint series comes a new town . . . a new drama. Treasure Hernandez is back with her second street series, chronicling both sides of Baltimore's black market.
Derek Fuller is the head detective of a Baltimore narcotics unit. His team has been assigned to take down the biggest drug operation in the city. There's only one problem: the head of the operation is his brother, Scar Johnson. Separated in Baltimore's foster care system, they came from two different walks of life, but both met at the top on opposite sides of the law. With the Assistant District Attorney in their back pocket, this was a marriage made in heaven--until the drama and deceit enters.
Delve into this treacherous story of love, deceit, lies, and murder. Revenge is a dish best served cold, and once one brother feels betrayed, the only retribution is death.
Wow every body hands are dirty the Mayor, the chief of police to the da. Tiphani I don't know what to say about her sleeping with two brothers she needs to be taking out or they need to take her is thinks Scar loves her he just using her. What Scar is doing to his brother is so wrong on all levels. Their is no honor among thieves everybody trying to keep their name the clear look at Rodriguez don't know who your friends are. I hope Derek come out on top.
It seems some people are easily pleased this book for me was the PITS, very crudely written and the author no sooner described a scene and we were onto the next which made the book very predictable. There was no depth to this book so i will not be reading the other three books in the series. So bye, bye mr hernandez i firmly believe i am not missing anything by not reading the other three books.
Two brothers grew up in foster care but were separated. One grew up to be a cop and the other a drug dealer. They reunite as adults and form a partnership. Read to find out how they turn against each other. I really enjoyed this page turner and now on to book 2.
I began this new series by Treasure Hernandez. If you like urban books with a few gangsters, this one won't disappoint. The characters are somewhat predictable, but enjoyable. The main characters are brothers who are on opposite sides of the law. I read the others in this series as well.
Spell binding when has to decide his brother as life goes when he truly emotional from being apart from him for so long. Can't wait to jump into vol. 2
I had just finished watching Seasons 1 and 2 of The Wire. It was an intense series on HBO. This book matched the mayhem and murder from the first chapter. It was sex, drugs and intrigue from start to finish. I felt sorry for the judge Tiphani Fuller. She overcame long odds to obtain success and threw it away for the fast life. She was also incredibly stupid when it came to unprotected sex. The drug dealer, Scar Johnson, was notorious and could have been patterned after some real life gangsters. There were secret family ties involved along with ultimate betrayals. I couldn't put it down once I started to read it.
I enjoyed this first book and looking forward to reading the next three of the Baltimore Chronicles. Treasure Hernandez ain't nothing nice with her books. She keeps it real. There is a lot of dirty, crooked and on the take people in Baltimore. Starting with the mayor, police dept. and citizens. Scar, Derek and Tiphani Johnson ar the star players. Scar is Derek's brother, Tiphani is Derek's wife. Derek is a big time cop, Scar a big time drug dealer and Tiphani is Asst. DA and screwing Scar (go figure). The Flint Series was also off the chain!
I was enjoying the pace and intrigue of this book which is 1st in a series. The Dirty Money Crew is run by Scar who is the younger brother of narcotics Dt. Derek Fuller. Dt. Fuller is married to ADA Tiphani who is having an affair with Scar. Each individual is self serving in their quest to ruin the other. Would have given 4 stars but the abrupt ending of book 1 left a bad taste in my mouth. I need my stories to be complete despite the pending sequels waiting on the publisher's desk!
This was a good read full of drama, action, scandal, & police corruption. I liked how the ending leaves you in suspense and wanting more. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series. I'm really loving this author!
Why did one brother have to be so hard and the other so weak I'm about to find out in part 2 this book has so many twist and turns that I finished and didn't realize it. I have been a fan of this author's work since the flint series and I wasn't disappointed with this one.
3.5 great storyteller. Someone that I really liked died. That was tough... Some useless profanity though. I mean every word should count. This here wore thin but a good solid story with some depth.
I really enjoyed reading Baltimore Chronicle it was definitely a lot of twist and turns. The story was about Detective Derek Fuller lead detective of narcotics he brought down a Notorious drug Lord by the name Scar Johnson his brother. Both men were put in foster care system Derek got adopted his brother didn't. Derek Fuller was molested by his adopted mother and emotionally abuse. He never told his father because he ashamed of the sexual urges he didn't understand at a early age. Scar Johnson was emotionally abuse and bullied by other kids in the foster care turned to criminal history of drug dealing Mayhem,Death, betrayal, Lies, corruption,Disloyalty, Cheating. Did not like ending was very confusing it became complicated.
