The new Wifey series...entitled Wife Extraordinaire Part 1 will take you in the lives of two women who will are just as cunning as Kira, Nikki & Rhonda from the first series. You will see more blood shed and lives will be turned upside down. Who will come out on top?
Kiki Swinson was born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia. She discovered her flair for writing after completing her first novel, Mad Shambles, while serving a five-year sentence at a federal prison. After being released in December 1996, Kiki later went on to self-publish Mad Shambles. Her passion for writing didn't stop there. Writing feverishly into the wee hours of the night, she completed her second novel, Wifey, which was published by Melodrama Publishing. After the success of Wifey, Kiki penned the sequels I'm Still Wifey and Life After Wifey, as well as The Candy Shop and A Sticky Situation.
Started off good, but ended as soon as the drama started. This book is way too short. Half way through the pages the book ended and another one started.
I listened to this book over the course of one morning. The different narrators really sucked me into the story. This book is basically that show Wife Swap that used (and may still) come on where two couples would switch wives for like a week and yeah, it was reality tv at its finest. In this case, it is two guys who grew up together so they KNOW what kind of men they both are, who switch wives. Both marriages are already on the rocks and coming to a close but there is 10K up for grabs so they do the show. In reality tv fashion, things get intense and Messy! its a web of mess. The ones you think would easily give in and do wrong may surprise you and the ones that you think are strong and going to walk away with the pride that regardless of how tempting, they held off-they too may surprise you. It really explores the question of, is the grass greener on the other side?
This urban fiction ‘Wife Extraordinaire' was not my cup of tea at all. The flow of sentence structure barely made the story believable. I felt the over indulgence of profanity, foul language and the overall characters and their pettiness is what kept me from the underlying story as a whole. That each one of these characters; Leon, Trice, Troy and Charlene were childishly insecure. Wife swapping in this day and age is too hard to believe with all the issues in dealing with another's idiosyncrasies and then to take that to another level by moving in with someone else's wife/husband. No, I don't think so.
This book was very good. I listened to the audiobook version. The storyline and narrators really kept my attention. I must say, it was very different from what I expected. I felt like I knew what would happen, because no good could possibly come from the "situations" the couples were in. To my surprised and book heaven delight, the story took different turns that I didn't see up ahead.
The only negative thing...well not negative, but Blank Stare moment is when the author just dropped you right off the cliff at the end..... I wasn't expecting it to end like that. So of course I have to read Book 2 and 3. But they aren't on audio yet...so the wait begins.
Quick listen but very enjoyable. I liked that it wasn't your typical urban book. Didn't see the story taking the path it took. The way it ended seemed like it could have been a one and done book but since I know there's more books in this series I'll definitely keep reading to see what comes of this foursome.
When I first started reading this book, I thought it was going to be good....WRONG! As you start reading the book, you kind of guess what is going to happen....
This isn't the cover of the book I read. But, it seems to be the one I read. So, none of the characters: Trice, Troy, Leon, or Charlene were likable. They weren't fleshed out. You learned about them as you went along. But, still. Also, what woman takes some other woman's word for EVERYTHING? She tells you she slept with your husband? OK, why talk to him at all? Let's ignore all his phone calls and just sleep with his "friend"? I get that he had cheated before. But at the very least, think about the reasons she would have to lie. Especially since she was trying to one up you. Leon seemed to be fun of contradictions. The wife swapping show premise had promise. I guess. It's a fast read. The ending is where everything started to happen. 2.5 stars.
My fiancé picked out this book for me .. He knows I usually like these type of books.. I have actually read a couple books by Kiki Swinson . And I'll admit they were pretty good . This just was something different . The beginning was boring and had me like . What the fuck. But then towards the middle it Started getting interesting and the end had me in awe like DAMN .
Trice: she was the classy one . And also the one that got shot ... Her and Troy were married for about 7 years .. She made me mad with the fact of her not liking to give head to her husband .. But she bowed down and did whatever for his best friend Leon.
Troy: he was promiscuous on the low low and did sneaky shit and cheated on his wife in the past but got away with it .. He has this notion that getting head from a female isn't considered cheating
Charlene: she was the ghetto bitch.. Who irked my life. She tried her best to make Troy fck her but it was a major fail he obviously had too much respect for his marriage to go that far and that pissed Charlene off .. She had never been rejected before .
Leon: he confuses me so much.. He says how much he hates Charlene and how she never does anything for him .. But it's his fault that they are in the trouble they are in . He constantly fcked bitches and cheated on Charlene and he never even tried to hide it. So that made me wonder what done changed to where he can be all different and goody goody towards trice
The spouse trade changed a lot made trice and Troy fall Out of love and trice and Leon fall in love and Leon and Charlene to fall out of love and Charlene and Troy to hate each other. Leon thought it was cool try and take trice away from Troy . Which was a major fail . He ended up shooting her and everything going down. Now he is in jail with no bail & trice is in the hospital ., I'm ready to read the next One . I hope trice is okay .
wow I'm so disappointed jus when the drama was getting good the book ends.lucky for me i have part two already waiting to be read. Ok so let me start off by saying that your going to have to pay me a lot more than ten thousand dollars to let another woman enter my home for a week and be around my husband a man that i know has cheated in the past.Leon was dumb in the end if you needed a gun to handle another man then that just speaks wonders right there. Trice was dead wrong yea Leon shot her but it was by accident and for her to stand in court and testify that what happened between them was a mistake i don't look at her as the victim anymore. now on to part two
This book was really crazy and good all at the same time. I would have never agreed to anything that crazy as wife swapping for no damn money. Things happen people catch felling then all the drama and friendships are lost behind money and jealousy. This book is a reason why you never do any of those thing for money or anything. I really felt bad for Trice because she fell the the bullcrap without checking with her man. In the end all four of them were wrong all across the board. I can't wait to see what happens in part 2.
I usually like Kiki Swinson books. They usually rate pretty high. But this one was terrible. The theme was a good theme but was not well executed. The bonus story Ex-Wife status by Amaleka Mcall was the best part of this whole book. That story was good. I was unable to rate it seperately so unfortunately had to give this book a two stars. If I could have rated the bonus story would have given it 4 stars for the bonus story alone.
This book was off the chain!!! Who agrees to swap spouses with your friend?!! Where they do that at?!! In a nutshell, lies and not communicating caused someone to get killed. Then the second story in the book makes you want to do a background check of the person you are dating or married to. Never allow a person to give their all to you and you don't give the same in return. It could cost you your life in the end.
I thought Kiki Swinson wrote the whole book but she didn't the second part of the book was really good I enjoyed it I thought I wasn't going to like it because I never heard of that author but I am glad I read it Can't wait to read part 2
just finished reading this book it was good.... it plays on the reality of wife swap... but itn was still really good. You also get a bonus story in the same book called ex wife status. Now that story is something to read you will be surprised!!!!
drama with a capital D. When i read this book it reminded me of the tv show eife swipe, but this onw went urribly wrong. two couples swipe husban d and wife but the other fell in love with the other husband and even got pregaant.
As soon as the drama began to unfold; the book ended! Literally. It was very rushed towards the end. Kiki summed up the final chapter in just a few paragraphs. I didn't like that as the preceding chapters were detailed and well written, then it's over with paraphrasing and dialogue.
Wow I was def not expecting the book to be the way it was.I was on the edge of my seat waiting to finish this book.it was hella good but it was trifling all the way thru.I can't believe the ending that was cray to me.I can't wait to get into the second book
Two couples decide to participate in the ghetto version of Wife Swap. To earn the $50,000, they must swap spouses for 7 days. But at the end of the week, feelings have been changed, hurt and crushed. The ending is the end for all of them.
I am still reading this and I have to say, its not all that good. I am kinda upset because it was a little pricey on my kindle fire. Oh well, I still support you girl so I bought Part 1 & 2!
