A Travel Guide to World War II Sites in Italy: Museums, Monuments, and Battlegrounds

Rate this book
This guidebook is the first to describe over one hundred sites dedicated to the memory of the Italian campaign (1943-45), when Allied and German armies battled from one end of Italy to the other. Each chapter provides tours of war museums, monuments, battlegrounds, cemeteries, and/or prison camps in a specific city or area. Examples are Rome, Florence, Bologna, and the Adriatic Coast.

In addition, the book provides directions, maps, a list of hotels, and historical summaries. These features make the book an ideal addition to the standard Italy guides, which seldom mention WWII sites.

A solid overview of the sites related to the Italian Campaign of WWII. While some of the information is bound to become dated in any print edition, pretty much everything is still there and most of the contact information remains current. This is a very helpful guide for anyone planning a trip.
