June 20, 2008Good book about the operational and structural details of opening hedge fund. Insightful, and illuminating on the details involved in opening and operating a fund. Thankfully ignores trading strategies completely. Does make several references to going long and short stock, at a high level, which seems like more of an artifact of history than an attempt at pigeonholing hedge funds as "stock only" operations.
You finish the book with a clear understanding of what the next steps in the process of opening a fund are, and what order they need to be carried out in, as well as how much capital is required and on what schedule it needs to be employed.

Books accomplishes what it set out to do. Basic, skim of hedge funds. I enjoyed the individual stories of hedge fund founders. Quick, light read.
