I first read this book in high school and I think this book is actually a good option for YA fantasy readers, and also holds up well for pure fantasy readers, too.
Things I liked: fast moving story, some really fascinating concepts, has a very satisfying ending, characters were developed more than I expected
Things I didn't like: my biggest criticism was that the story moved too fast in places which took something away from the characters and the cool ideas (the storylines ended so quickly). Also, ...more

This was better when I was younger. It was a good read and very enjoyable, but seemed a bit too simplistic as I've aged.
I still enjoy the characters, situation and world-building, but the depth just didn't seem to be there. Probably my favorite character was Thomas and while his story is probably the most fleshed out, even his resolution appeared a bit too convenient.
Still recommended because it's a fun read and very entertaining. But....
