Any free time is spent spoiling two nieces and two nephews, pumping them up on sugar, caffeine and buying very loud toys then sending them back to their parents. The perfect revenge for all the slights of being the youngest child.
When not writing or contributing to the delinquency of minors, Allie enjoys anything to do with the ocean, reading, trying to outsmart her psycho cat and spending time with her wonderful and supportive family.

Allie Standifer has written an adorable Quickie that deftly shows how different sex can be when you can’t see what’s happening. Courtney has temporarily lost her sight, and the doctor at the hospital won’t allow her home unless she has someone to take care of her. Understandable right? But she doesn’t have anyone she can call except her employee, Mason. She asks him to get someone to collect her, but the sexy guy she works with and has the hots for turns up himself.
Talk about dreams coming true! He takes her home and tends to her every need, especially in bed. It found it fascinating to read how he makes her feel, and also got frustrated at times because I wanted to see what was going on. That’s a compliment, by the way. Ms. Standifer made me want to see Mason as much as Courtney wanted to see him, and that’s fine writing and skill.
I loved the way Courtney’s character changed from a boss to a lover, and how, even though she has to maintain a somewhat hard exterior in the workplace, she was vulnerable underneath and needy just like everyone else. Near the end, I really felt for her because she’d pinned her hopes on Mason more than she’d previously thought, but something wonderful happens, and crazy as it sounds, I actually felt her happiness return, that sweeping whoosh of relief, and I’ll admit I shed a little tear or two on Courtney’s behalf.
Best Bit: At six foot two his body looked like a hungry woman’s buffet. (Such a luscious line. It really got the point across for me on how much Courtney wanted Mason.)
With a couple like Courtney and Mason, where “life” and how things “should” be prevents a couple getting together long before they do, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the pair of them, wanting them to just take what was on offer and carve a life together. With Courtney being older than Mason, she would face not only “But you’re his boss!” but also “But he’s so much younger than you!” Who cares? Who thinks they have the right to care about what someone else chooses to do? So long as they love one another, that’s all that matters. That is the main thing I got from this book—no matter what people say, if you love someone, go for it. Life is too short. Many thanks to Ms. Standifer for writing a tale that made me think and take a good look at myself and how I view other people’s relationships
