Actually I only read about half of the book. The last half is about working longer before retirement. I am already retired and really thankful that I do not have to work. The first part of the book contains some very important information that all retirees need to understand. The chapter on Social Security is especially helpful. It addresses issue we face now due to the current economic problems and gives good suggestions on how to deal with most of them. Although I agree with the author that working longer is an important option if you are concerned about funding a long retirement, I am not optimistic about people's ability to do so. There are many potential blocks including health and employer attitudes. If you plan on working longer, I would advise that you also have a real alternative if that is not possible. This is one of the better and more realistic books on retirement for ordinary people.

Not a lot of meat. More of an appetizer.
It's a guide, like the title states. This is not a do-it-yourself guide, but more of a roadmap guide. It has a brief summary of a topic and then a list of places to get more information. It states for the hard times, but really the map will help guide you through all times. Not a lot of details, so it is a good reference guide for the novice. At least you're thinking about your future.
Now go have a GoodReads.
