the thing with political books is, their relevance wanes as time passes. i picked this up not realizing that it was published 10 years ago. nevertheless, i read it while pretending it is 2004. however, since ibbitson is an editorialist/columnist, the book almost reads like propaganda. if anything, "the polite revolution" put into perspective how much the country has changed since then.
