A good book to help your younger child to develop a discerning eye. Each page offers some sort of instruction or hint for your child to find the mischievous puppy. I don't like that they refer to the puppy as "naughty"...mischievous or curious would have been a better choice. At the end of the book they give you pictures of nine items to go back and look for throughout the story. They also supply you with a page of items from the story to count -- up to four. This is a simple book with simple tasks...good for a 2-3 year old audience.
We are not "dog people" so I haven't introduced many puppy books to my daughter (out of pure selfishness), but this is one that I can stand. The rhymes are simple, fun, and (most importantly) tolerable.
Nate and I like this book. There is a puppy to find on every page. We laughed and laughed when the puppy turned over the garbage can. At the end of the book the puppy is tired and falls asleep in the laundry basket. I can hardly wait for the movie!
This board book is very attractive, but I was barely willing to read it aloud even once because the words are so annoying and awkwardly combined with images of a dopey puppy making cringe-worthy messes.
My 2 year old daughter loves finding the puppy on every page. The often rhyming text makes it easy to add some color to the tone and rhythm I use when reading. We really enjoy it!
Bought for my daughter by her grandmother who works with animals this is a cute idea, to find the puppy on each page. But so far my 2 year old isn't too interested.
