In the tradition of Ron Kovic "Born on the Fourth of July", Helmey saga epitomizes the heartbreaking conflict that characterized the Vietnam War years, as he recounts the story of hijacking a commercial 727 and forcing its pilot to fly to Cuba, as part of his mission to "get" Fidel Castro.

Hands down this is probably my favorite book of all time! I have read it about 5 times! I even once got to meet Mr Helmsey himself!! It was amazing, as is the story! Especially for anyone who lives or has lived in or around Savannah!

Reds Helmey's autobiography. An interesting person who in 1969 hijacks a plane to Havana in an attempt of kill Castro. Do not agree with his politics - my country right or wrong attitude - but he is sincere.

Enjoyable, written as if being verbally told. One can see much of oneself, in my case at least, in the turmoil in ones life. The ending was very good, one finding peace with God.
