I've always loved Armstrong in the anime, but I get a much better appreciation of him from the manga

Fullmetal Alchemist Vol. 7 embodies everything what I like with reading action manga: it has non-stop action, has the perfect balance of humor and drama, and it leaves you craving for more.

Juggling through so many plot elements (the homunculus, ouroboros, the Ishbalan war, and the Philosopher's stone) with finesse is such a great feat. This certainly proves that Hiromu Arakawa is a master storyteller.

For those who have read this volume, let me say something that we all ag

I've spent two volumes of reviews talking about the plot, and four more talking about assorted characters; it's time to tackle the protagonists.

Edward and Alphonse Elric. For all that they have their own personalities, they pretty much have to be discussed as one entity. About a year apart in age (the author never quite specifies), Ed has vague memories of a blond man walking out the door, whereas his little brother doesn't remember their father at all. Having grown up surrounded by

MY god that was such a great volume!! So many new developments and omg that ending! This series is consistently well-written and full of well-developed and amazing characters. I love the Elric brother's teacher Izumi so much... especially when she shows up at the Devil's Lair (with a loud declaration that she is a housewife because you go girl breaking down the stereotype that housewives are weak), beats the shit out of everyone and throws an unconscious guy at Alphonse, yelling at him for being ...more

I dislike the serious fight scenes in these books, and unfortunately, this book was 3/4 fight scenes. The only reason I don't like them is because the style of the fights doesn't tell me who is winning. And I find that REALLY irritating.

This one would have been three stars, but I bumped it up for Izumi and the science at the end.

The seventh book of Fullmetal Alchemist has so far been my favorite one. This installment has just been full of action. In the seventh book, we finally get to see characters with powerful abilities in action. Usually, in the books before this one, the powerful characters abilities are kept hidden and aren't shown. I don't want to talk much about spoilers, so I'll keep things to a minimum.
A character that's been teased a lot has been President Bradley. Everyone in the series has always talked

Arakawa packs a lot into small spaces with this run of issues--it's a revolving door of somebody-comes-to town-somebody-leaves-town storytelling, as Edward, Scar, and Bradley are on the move. The development of the newest major player, Greed, is so smooth you barely notice it happening until you are completely taken in. From his design to his elocution, he forces everything to revolve around him. And even the minor characters get their moments (Armstrong and Sig; Greed's crew). Confrontations ga ...more

I love this series. And, in this particular volume, I love Al's show of cleverness and his ability to use tropes to work for him ("If you're a man, you should make your own decisions" - he plays that awesomely), and Izumi's self-introduction:

housewife

And the fact that President Fuhrer King Bradley suddenly stops looking like such a swell and funny guy.

Recommends it for: Manga lovers
And the plot thickens! LOVED! Especially they scene where Ed is on his way to go save Al. XD so determined and wonderfully badass. I adore sibling relationships in book, and this one is growing into one of my very favorites. Plot is awesome. Characters are rounded and interesting. art is a gorgeous mix of cartoonish hilarity & badass gore. I am totally in love with "Fullmetal alchemist". Highly recommended to anyone who likes manga.

You know what I took away from this volume? Don't mess with Izumi Curtis... or anyone that she maybe sort of 'likes'. Why? Because she will kill you. In every way possible. Haha :)

There are a few characters that have been hanging out on the periphery of the story, manipulating the two brothers, and getting in their way as they try to find the Philosohper's Stone. They have not had much encounters with these creatures, and it is not revealed how powerful they might actually be. They are named after the seven deadly sins, and really only three of them have appeared, Gluttony, Envy, and Lust. This installment of the story introduces us to the character of Greed as he kidnaps ...more

Edward has forgotten about his yearly assessment and races off to Southern HQ in order to retain his State Alchemist status. In his absence, Al is kidnapped! His kidnappers want to find out how he got in his armor body because they want to be immortal. Al thinks that's dumb. What's more significant, he doesn't remember how he got into his body, so they'll never be able to beat the information out of him. The kidnappers' doom is sealed, because who will save him first--his brother Ed, who is sure ...more

These characters just keep getting better. Don't get me wrong, the plot is great - but the characters. THE CHARACTERS. King Bradley gets infinitely more interesting and I really grew to care for Armstrong in this. Al and Edward will always have a special place in my heart and Izumi is my queen (okay, one of my queens).

This series completely shits on stereotypes. We have a housewife, that's one of the most bad ass characters. A musclehead, that's one of the most empathetic an
