Although Charon wrote this book for lay people (it is the companion to a more technical, math-driven book for physicists), it still requires fortitude and a willingness to work through densely-packed information in places.

That being said, I'm finding it truly fascinating. Charon is offering a kind of "unified field theory", but not the usual one. He presents congruent evidence of how Spirit and matter are one.

This is, of course, something that many spiritual traditions have espoused forever. But for a physicist and philosopher of Charon's caliber to come right out and say it... outstanding!

If you don't mind deep subjects handled in an intelligent way, I highly recommend it!

Mr. Charon was a French nuclear physicist. He has written over 20 books on physics and did research at France's Atomic Energy Authority. I have read several books on quantum physics, and Mr. Charon's book, while containing many interesting and original ideas about the nature of matter, space-time, and elementary particles, electrons in particular, was rather difficult to read. Maybe because it was translated from French, or because Mr Charon's writing style is rather circuitous and he tends to ramble on, even though he probably had a genius level IQ.

It is still a worthy read if you want a rather unconventional take on nuclear physics. Basically, his theory is that electrons possess a different type of space-time and have a very low-level type of consciousness, which he calls "eons". He wrote another book, Complex Relativity, which was written for physicists and contains loads of high-level math and concepts from physics. This book, The Spirit: That Stranger Within us, is the simpler of the two.
