This brought back so many good, bad and humorous memories for me of my own little sister. 🫶🏻 While I’m personally an older sister, I found this to be insightful and interesting — as I compared what I was reading to my own little sister and the other little sisters I know. It’s so fascinating to me how much birth order can impact your personality!
Being a little sister myself, I was amazed how much of myself I saw in this book. The dynamics of siblings and birth order are explored in the context of being the youngest and a girl. How does this shape the women we become and how can that knowledge be used to overcome whatever deficiencies we may feel as a result of our place in the family? The accuracy of how the author describes the experience is uncanny. I was most struck with the explanation that as the youngest, we are always at a physical, mental and emotional disadvantage to those that are around us because they are older and further along in all stages of development. These feelings of inferiority can stay with us far into adulthood, especially in the family dynamic where you are always seen as the "little sister." Understanding where those feelings come from is a huge step to putting those feelings behind you and this book does a great job of relating those experiences in a meaningful and productive way.
What can I say? I wrote it. I had to put it in my favorites. Maybe some little sister who loved it will give it five stars, but if not, that's OK. After all, this is the world of LS's.
