Summary:
This book takes place at an elementary school. Their homeroom teacher is sick and has to be replaced by another teacher. When the principal comes in to tell the class that they will have another teacher for the day, the class is disappointed.. Until, they realized the new teacher was a dog!!! They did all the normal activities with Mr. Rover (the dog). And for a moment, they lost one of their class pets, but with Mr. Rover's smelling skills, they were able to find the pet!! At the end, the students ended up loving Mr. Rover but were glad their teacher was back.
Theme:
Just because something is different, doesn't mean its bad.
Personal Response:
This book was very cute, I liked it! I think it teaches the children that read it to not settle for things and try new stuff! You don't know how good something can be until you try it. It is very basic but teaches an important lesson.
Recommendation:
I recommend it to basically any child. All children need to learn this message and apply it to real life. Therefore, anyone can read it and take something from it.

This book is about a substitute teacher for a class. This substitute is not like any other substitute teacher--this substitute teacher is a dog! Mr. Rover has the class enjoying their day of learning. The children that have read this book found it to be really funny and I look forward to reading it with other children.

This book is fun to read when students are going to have a substitute teacher. It helps them to accept the substitute as their teacher and that they can be just as fun as their normal teacher.
