I'm quite happy to be re-reading this again, I read a few volumes of Dengeki Daisy a long time ago, but then decided to wait until the whole series was out. So now, it's time!

Can anyone tell me why there's no anime for this manga??!! The animes currently airing are so not entertaining to watch, seriously they could just grab Dengeki Daisy and turn it into an amazing anime, but no, they air stuff that's just so uninteresting and boring.

There's still hope though. At least I got some >.<

Okay. That part where Kurosaki is spacing out and Teru tries to get his attention by lifting up her shirt and showing her belly button is pretty funny.
(*proceeds to try that to the next person I find spacing out during class or some other boring time)

Yes. This is one of the cutest manga you could ever read.

I always find protecting guys the cutest, especially ones like Kurosaki that don't always make it apparent that they want to protect their girl. He's always insulting her or demanding from her, not treating her like a princess, but then proceeds to rescue her and deep down will always want to protect her.

Yeah. It's bad that I have a fetish for jerks.

BUT, there is a difference between a jerk like Kurosaki and a general butt-face jerk.

I will use scenarios and examples of men.

JERK LIKE KUROSAKI
1. Daryll from the Walking Dead, who works his butt off to find a girl lost in the wilderness even though he's scary as heck and curses a lot, and also loves to swing his axe at zombies and people who tick him off. (Watch the Walking Dead for better detail and reference for your confused and clueless mind.)

2. Damon from the Vampire Diaries, who is a jerk to Elena but also works his butt off to protect her. And is filled with sarcasm.

3. A dude like my best friend, Robert, who will tell me, "Hey, let's not hold hands here! They're gonna yell at us for PDA!" but then when some aimless dude bumps into me, he will hold my hand and ask me if I'm alright.


General jerk

1. Dude who absolutely MUST roll down his car windows and blast very inappropriate rap music for the entire public to hear.

2. Dude who likes cutting people off on the street and slowing down.

3. Dude who comes to writer's club only for the food.

4. People (dude or girl) that trick or treat but do not wear costumes or put any effort, they just want free candy.

5. Dude who CUTS IN LINE. Actually ANYONE who cuts in line. IN ANY LINE.


You get my point. Kurosaki is not just a self-centered prick. He cares for Teru, even if its tough love sometimes, and I find that adorable because someone that is capable of being cold and shrewd is able to be loving to someone they really really love.

Kurisaki is very quickly becoming one of my favourite characters, ever.

A solid continuation of the first volume we get a few new characters and a lot of the focus is put on the romantic tension. It's an interesting dynamic, with Teru trying to sort out the romantic stuff and Kurosaki just feeling plain old tense.

I love how well these characters have been developed, even though it's only volume 2. Although I'm hoping to see Teru take on some more complexity, I'm liking her so far.

We're also getting a bit of insight into Teru's late brother and how DASIY and he were connected. I'm getting really curious, but I'm starting to sense a lot of future drama.

The art bugged me at first. The compilation of styles takes getting used to. My favorite though are the light sketch pieces, the rarest. The over emotional frames took me a while but I see they have their place. I realized the art makes the scenes in this manga. The closeups, the styles that are used to punch up the messages.

I love Daisy's expressions, really all the characters. Maybe even better than Black Bird (gasp!) Loved how this couple are clearly Japanese, the broad strokes of a modern couple from no where else but Japan.

I love how Daisy uses his personality to forward plot and make things that are a little questionable okay in both Teru and the reader's mind.

Really while I liked volume 1, I really took to this series in volume 2.

BOTTOM LINE: WOW!

Thanks to this manga, I'M READY TO EMBRACE THE 2D WORLD ONCE AGAIN!! Judge me, I don't care!

Can't help but wonder, why is no one that concerned with Teru's living situation. Teru is an orphan - a sad yet very convenient plot device that allows for this type of situation to be possible - but does she not have any other relatives? And even if she doesn't, why isn't the school doing anything about it? Even if she is an emancipated minor (wasn't mentioned in the manga), her living with the school custodian can't be good for the school's image. Is no one concerned at all? It's not like it's a well kept secret, students are most certainly talking about it! I've read my fair share of high school students related manga, and school/student image is a huge deal. It just seems a bit strange, and I'm not sure if I should brace myself or just forget about it.

Teru is so far one of my favorite female protagonists out there. She stands up for herself, she doesn't let people bully her because she's poor, she knows her worth, and she doesn't wallow in self pity even though her situation is a bit tragic. She also thinks. I love that she actually thinks and doesn't make rash decisions led by her emotions. I also love that she's capable of making obvious connections, which sadly a lot of our beloved main protagonists seem incapable of doing. She's quite sharp and I love it!

I would also like a second to talk about mangaka Motomi Kyousuke's art, especially the way she draws expressions around the eyes... on guys... yes I've only noticed this on guys. This is the second series of hers I've read and the way her characters show emotion with their eyes is wonderfully done. There's just something about the details that truly make me feel the emotions they're trying to convey. I'm not saying her art is the best out there or that this is unique to her. I'm just saying that I can actually "feel" what her characters are feeling, which is a little different from just getting teary from a sad scene or laughing at funny dialogue.

So far I'm loving this series, It's too early to say it's one of my favorites though.

I truly adore a good age gap romance!
This series has an element of mystery thrown into the romance, to give reasons as to why the couple is not only in close proximity of each other, but also of why they can't pursue a romantic relationship, outside of the legal barrier of the age gap.
Everything is innocent for now, and I am thinking it will remain that way for quite a while. There are hurdles that this couple needs to face before they can be together, and I am HERE for this journey!

After the break-in at Teru's apartment, she's been staying with Kurosaki at his place. A strictly platonic arrangement, naturally. But she's made herself at home, at his insistence, and texts Daisy with the details as we begin the second volume of Dengeki Daisy.


Teru's friends congratulate her, erroneously assuming that she is now "with" the blond custodian, but nothing could be farther from the truth. In fact, he's acting rather strange. He confides to his boss at Flower Garden his fears that Teru will learn the truth, that he is Daisy, and he won't be able to take care of her any more. Teru comes home to find Kurosaki not there, and she starts to go into his room, but he returns just in time, and is frantic thinking that she saw something. She swears she didn't, so he tells her his room is filled with s&m and porn, just to keep her from going into it. She thinks she must be in his way, so she announces she's going home. However, when she does, everything is in such bad shape, that she is sorry she did, and she wishes Kurosaki would come for her and take her back home. To his place, that is. A knock at the door excites her, til it turns out to be a pervert selling magazine subscriptions she can't afford - but who won't take no for an answer! Ohoh, what now?

Back at Kurosaki's place, Teru impresses him with her cooking. She is pretty good at it. Kurosaki baits her, saying things about Daisy, and she staunchly defends her friend/supporter. What if he turns out to be someone weird, like me? Kurosaki poses the question, and Teru's reply is, "I'll love everything about you." Of course she thinks he is kidding about the question, while she admits to herself that she is already in love with Kurosaki.

Teru is determined to rank first in her class academically, as she has before, and she makes Kurosaki promise that if she does, he'll take her shopping, and get her whatever she wants, no limit. He grudgingly agrees. A new counselor arrives at the school. Her name is Riko, and she seems to be acquainted with Kurosaki, well enough to hit him! But Teru's friends see them talking together, and misinterpret what they see, telling Teru, who is concerned that she has a rival. When he is late for dinner, Teru is both worried and angry, and writes GO BALD on his plate in catsup. He finds it amusing and he reciprocates by drawing a clown face on Teru's face in catsup. Riko questions Kurosaki's motives for being involved with Teru, and offers him an out - a position with a software company far away from there. He is very conflicted about what he should do.

Teru decides to face the enemy, so she confronts Riko in her office, asking her if she is Kurosaki's woman, which causes the counselor to do a great spittake. Then she proceeds to warn Teru away from him, for oh so many reasons. Afterward, Teru confides to Daisy that she is in love with someone she shouldn't be in love with, but she is. That makes Kurosaki smile. Teru becomes closer to Riko, especially when she learns that the older woman knows Daisy. She confides in her, shows her the Daisy messages she has saved on her cell phone, in folders. She calls them her precious treasures. Riko proposes that they live together. Kurosaki and Teru are both conflicted.

Teru is still in danger, and so perhaps are her friends. There seems to be more hacking going on at the school, and it is implied that Daisy is involved, which she doesn't believe. And now her friend Kiyoshi is missing. Everything seems to be centering around Teru's cell phone. What on earth is going on here, and can Kurosaki save her from it without revealing himself? And does he truly intend to leave her when his job is done?

A great shojo series. The perfect amount of 'heart fluttery' moments between Teru and Kurosaki (aka Daisy) to make this shojo fan happy. I also love how the story is slowly allowing for Teru to create a new "family" around herself (since she was left alone after her older brother died), and I adore how protective and caring that new "family" is towards Teru. I wonder how long the author will wait before allowing Teru and Kurosaki to confess their growing love for each other? Happy to keep reading this one...

I keep loving the fact that not only does the sappy stereotype of shoujo school love gets thrown curves again and again in this series, but the mystery and danger action bits and the cool male reaction bits get shot down by the women in this book.

Which makes the occasional real romantic scene triply effective. I've read up to Volume 6 in scanlation and will buy as long as the author doesn't disappoint.

This book belonged to the best shoujo manga ever! Actually, there are lots of factors that bring out it's awesome-ness, (1)With its strong heroine, (2)conflicted hero, and (3)story -- OF COURSE that does both humor and emotion well, it is still most definitely a series worth reading.

Kurosaki keeps torturing Teru while DAISY supports her and the plot thickens! People are after software developed by Teru's deceased brother and target her to find it.

I like this graphic novel series a lot. The mystery is there along with the romance. I would recommend.
