Opposites Attract

Rate this book
Alexis Grant has everything she has ever wanted: fashionable clothes, social standing, a Manhattan apartment, and a mother who pays for it all. That is, until her mother is arrested for embezzlement and the government seizes everything. Left jobless, homeless, and strapped for cash, Alexis throws caution to the wind and decides the time is right to do that big road trip across the U.S. with her best girlfriend, who is bringing along her boyfriend--and he is bringing along his buddy, tattoo artist Ethan James. Ethan has "bad boy" written all over him, drives a 1965 Lincoln Continental, and has no time for spoiled rich girls, but he might just be the best thing that has ever happened to Alexis. He is certainly not steady material, however; and when Mrs. Grant shows up, her overpowering presence threatens to ruin the relationship before it has a chance to start.

I somehow was expecting this to be something completely different. I loved this story. Alexis is a shallow spoiled woman in the beginning, and she treats Ethan abominably as they begin their trip. But as the trip develops, so does Alexis. She becomes appealing as she realizes that there is so much more to life than what she has experienced, and she also realizes that she wants Ethan. Touching.

Great for a young adult. I thought it sucked. Finished it on GP. Gave it away when finished.
