Less abstract than the later Greeks, and more inventive than the Egyptians, the story of science among the Chinese is remarkable. They invented many of the most world-changing creations long before the West, including movable printing and gun powder. This book catalogs many of those inventions and the ancient wisdom of the people who headed East.

Having now looked at the Egyptians, the Chinese, and the Romans, I am struck afresh by just how unique the Greeks were.

Liked it.

This was a great book, but I regret the last few lines. It states that China's distrust of outsiders kept them from continuing to advance with the West. However, that seems to be an idea particular to Western culture, this idea that scientific advancement is the only worthwhile type of success.

My book talks about the science in the ancient china. I talked about this book because it talks about china and Im learning about china in mr holt class. I know a little bit more about this book than my pers because My book has a lot of fact that I needed to learn. My book also saw talks about science and I like science because we can do fun experiment learn a lot of things. this is why I like the book the science in the ancient china.

Their are a lot of facts that I learn in this book for example Marco Polo came to visit china. Marco polo saw rocket being shot into the air, he saw beautiful garments made of silk, and unusual medical treatments. In 1275 people said that the culture that new more about science were the Chinese they said that the Chinese were very intelligence over the time the Chinese went less and less they were no more the 1 culture who new science. Those are the fact about my book the science in the ancient china.

I would recommend this book to people who likes science and people who likes china and also to Middle schoolers and to some 5 Th.. graders. people who like science because the main point about this book was science. Also about china because the author had a feeling that he wanted to talk about china this why he talked about china. I also recommend this book to Middle schoolers and to some 5 Th.. graders because this book is for pre adults. this is why i recommend tis book to people who likes china ,scientists and to Middle schoolers and to some 5 Th.. graders .

My daughter and I read most of this series this year as part of our history studies on the ancients. This was not our favorite overall, but my daughter was very interested in ancient Chinese medicine and did a narration about acupuncture and moxa based on what she read.
