Serengeti Heat is the first book in the Serengeti Shifters series. It introduces us to Three Rocks Pride's Ava Minor, who thinks of herself as "the cowardly lioness". She hot for human, so she heads to Bar Nothing. There her how d'ya do's with a hunky cowboy are abruptly interrupted by Alpha, Landon King, who Ava's had the hots for since his arrival in the pride. He won the challenge to take over the Alpha position in the pride three months ago.

Ava's tried to make sure that she keeps her distance from Landon, never letting on that she has a major crush. She's convinced that because she's a tiny submissive he'd never be interested in her, especially since he's currently on the prowl for a mate. But, Landon's immediately hot for Ava. And, had it not been for a call from his sister who's searching for Ava, which then causes him to think of her four possessive, protective, older brothers, he'd happily finish his attempts to relieve her heat-induced suffering.

When they return to the pride, Ava immediately runs to Landon's sister, Zoe for comfort. She's misinterpreted Landon's statements and reactions to her, but Zoe quickly sets her straight. Straight into the arms of Landon.

Can the Alpha love a tiny, "cowardly lioness"? Is Ava really cowardly? In this too-short, but detailed and enjoyable novella we find out.

Vivi Andrews has a way with stories. I love her writing and look forward to more of this series and others she's written.

This was a surprise based on the length. Yes, it's a quick read, but I felt Ava and Landon were both well-fleshed out. Ava sees herself as the weakest link in the Pride. She is the smallest and physically weakest, her 4 brothers protect (smother) her. Landon sees something more.
Well paced and decent characters. Plenty steamy too.

Not a book, not even a novella. This was shorter somehow, and kinda awful. I almost don’t want to remind myself I read it, by putting this as read.

The entire love story happens in two days and it was gross, even for shifter romance. No world build, awful MC, and Landon sucked. Didn’t even know Ava’s name. And plot was 70% sex scenes.

Ava Minor, the runt and weakest shifter lioness in her pride is on a mission in a near by pick up bar. Little does she know that the former alpha nomad and current male alpha of her pride (Landon) is witnessing her attempted pickup of a human man.

What becomes a heated exchange of words then an attempted seduction gets spoiled from Ava's four neanderthal but well meaning brothers. Always protecting her like she is breakable and helpless, they perpetuate her low sense of self worth. Ava needs to get into Landon's pants. She knows she is not suited to be anything more to him, she suddenly goes after something or rather someone that she wants. The albino lioness fell for Landon the moment she saw him, but unfortunately her lack of self esteem convinces her that she could never be his mate, or have a permanent place in his life.

Through hot love making scenes to defense of possible usurpers to Landon's position, Ava is convinced and accepts Landon's proposal to be his mate and the pride's alpha female. It really is a sweet story, my only complaint was I wished it was longer, but this is a novella. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series. I have a feeling they will involve some of Ava's brothers. They need a feisty female to throw them for a loop and learn what is important.

I really liked this little story. The paranormal aspect with the lion pride was really well done, and Vivi Andrews accomplished a lot with not many pages. Landon King has fought for and achieved rank as alpha in the pride he's just joined; Ava Minor has always been a bullied runt, a tiny white lionness who believes she doesn't have much to offer the pack. But one night that all changes as Landon sees Ava for the first time, and she gives in to the attraction she's had for him since he first arrived.

Their story is very, very sweet, and the love scenes are hot and sexy. Landon is an amazing hero, as he convinces Ava that she is all he needs in a mate. Watching Ava's confidence rise as Landon believes in her is endearing. The only complaint I have is I wish it could've been longer, but this was an excellent read.

In the first Serengeti Shifters novella, beta lion Ava Minor wants to have fun in a rough human bar. As the smallest, weakest lion in her pride of lion shifters, she is used to the other lionesses bullying her, male lions ignoring her, and having to deal with her four overprotective brothers. In the bar, she unexpectedly comes face-to-face with the new alpha in her pride, the only man she’s ever really wanted.
After years as a nomad, Landon King challenged the former alpha of the Three Rocks Pride months earlier and won the right to lead the pride. He wants to change the antiquated rules and bring the pride into the modern era, but he knows he needs a mate to help him bring about the changes. Though he forces Ava to leave the bar to save her from her own folly, he cannot control himself around her. She challenges him in ways he never expected, and neither of them believes one night together will be enough.
Wow! I love this story. Ava is so smart and brave, but she doesn’t realize her inner strength because she’s been put down her entire life. Landon is definitely open-minded and willing to do whatever is necessary to protect his new pride as well as honoring his heart, so I liked him a lot.
Zoe, Landon’s sister, is awesome, and I’m looking forward to reading her book later in the series. Ava’s brothers need to be knocked down a few pegs, but their stubbornness stems from love and a need to protect her, even when she doesn’t need protecting.
I enjoyed Ms. Andrews’ voice and writing style. I didn’t notice any typos or spelling mistakes, which is very refreshing. Even though this novella is short, it told a full story. Still, I really wish the story would’ve been longer because I enjoyed the characters and the world building, and didn’t want it to end.

I thought this book was fine, I just prefer true mates PNRs over the more political aspects and don't like it when the H and h are with other people after meeting. Those were my main issues with this book, and they're just personal preferences so if you enjoy short, steamy PNRs and don't really care about faithfulness after meeting or when the H/h has sexual thoughts about other people you'll probably enjoy this book.

This short story was interesting and kept me reading throughout the book. But the heroine’s lack of confidence really got on my nerves. I can understand it was kinda the point in the book, but it was just too much for me. I would of liked to seen her overcome that horrible habit.

First time reading from this author. I loved it, PNR is just my genre and this author did it justice. It is basically a short story but it is packed with drama and romance. I will be returning to this author.

Kind of short and a bit of a porn with plot novella. Likeable characters and an okay story. I would have liked to see her tell her brothers not to be so over-protective.

"Fabulously well-done lion shifter story, full of heat and romance!"

Ava Minor is secretly in love with Landon King, the alpha of her pride, for months. However, buoyed by her own insecurities, she avoids him, thinking he'd never notice a small lioness like her.

Landon doesn't know Ava existed, until the night her heat draws him, and all he could think of is to make her his. She may be good for a tumble, but when it comes time for him to pick a lioness as mate, who would he choose?

Serengeti Heat is a fabulously well-done lion shifter story, full of heat and romance. I have to admit, it's Ava's angst that drew me in, and the thought of a small beta lioness felling a powerful alpha male like Landon is darn nigh impossible to resist. Happily, Vivi Andrews is a master at her craft, and Serengeti Heat keeps me on a contented afterglow for hours after I finished reading it.

Though Ava is a beta, she's not a pushover, and we see the sparks in her personality that caused Landon to admire her. Yet, the pride holds fast to traditional ways and values. How could Landon convince the pride that the mate of his heart is good for the group and their progress? I won't tell you, since that will spoil the story for you.

The one thing that bothered me in this otherwise perfect story is the return of the two malcontents. I feel that that scene could've been handled in a more satisfactory manner. However, this small thing is not enough to hinder my enjoyment in reading this story. This is a short, fun read that is good for that two hours—or three—in the afternoon when you're bored and want to find some exciting story to read.

Ava goes to bar nothing looking for some trouble.
Ava has a "Sexy" voice as people would say, she is weaker than most lioness, but she is smart and brave.
Turns out,Landon was in the bar already when Ava arrived, and he interrupted her "date" when she was talking to him.
Ava's four brothers are very protective of Ava and Zoe(Landon's sister) is a close friend to Ava.
Landon gets an interested attraction to Ava and he knows that she is his mate when he relized his attraction for her went deeper than that. Ava's brothers hate Landon because he betrayed them by sleeping with Ava, but Landon knows that he will still fight for Ava.
Later on Ava is declared as Landon's mate and everyone is happy....well most people.

I really liked this book. I have always wanted to read it but just never got to it until now. The h was likable. I did like the theme of the underdog getting a chance to shine and finally win. The story had all kinds of good sexual tension btw the h and H! There are four reasons why I couldn't give this book 5 stars. Now i know we don't read these book to see that kind of action but I tend to like reading about the Alpha getting down and defending his property! With all that being said this is a good read and it has potential to get better. I will be reading the other books in this series soon but it is not on my top list right now.

Too short. Definitely a different take on the shifter world. I was not too impressed with Ava, the female lead in this story. Being the runt in her lion pride should make her want to prove herself more to the rest of them, but instead she just accepts it and how others treat her because of it. I liked that she had 4 very protective brothers, but at the same time I wished she would just be more independent of them. I didn't really like the fact that Landon didn't even know she existed in his own pride for the 3 months that he has been the Alpha of it. It just made Ava look more weak and a little pathetic. I thought maybe over the course of the story we would watch Ava grow a backbone, but even at the end I still felt like she didn't really have one. After one night together and suddenly Landon knows she is supposed to be his mate. The way he talked about her and to her made it seem like he knew her after just one night and that made it a little unbelievable to me. Again another story I wish was longer, so that the reader could at least get a chance to see more of the life they create after they are mated and then to see where the pride goes after Landon announces that he wants to make changes. The former Alpha coming back to challenge Landon was a great addition but then that disappeared too. I wouldn't mind reading a story about Zoe (Landon's sister), now she definitely seems like one that has a backbone.

I read Serengeti Heat, Serengeti Storm, Serengeti Lightning and Serengeti Sunrise one after the other over maybe 2 days. I didn't realize that the titles worked so well together (Heat, Storm, Lightning, Sunrise).

The series is OK. I liked the shifters and the different conflicts. But I didn't think that these stories were paced particularly well. I sometimes found myself skimming, and other times going back to re-read thinking that I had missed something. Maybe because of this I didn't find that I got sucked into the story and/or didn't find any of the characters to be particularly sexy.

So this series gets 3/5. Each book gets 3/5. I can't say that there was one book that stood out as being the best out of the series. Each book had it's own pluses and minuses.

I'm not sure that I will read Vivi Andrews again unless she comes out with something with a synopsis that I find particularly appealing.

Three Rocks Pride has got itself a new Alpha who is very, very available and all the shifter females know it. Enter runt of the litter, Ava Minor who has a scorching case of heat, four burly brothers who try to keep her under lock and key, and a hard case for the new alpha, Landon King. Who pretty much doesn’t know who the heck she is since taking over the Pride.

But on an evening out to a local honky tonk determined to kick up her heels away from the ranch, and wearing her springiest red tube top, Ava runs into her mysterious new alpha and the flames spiral out of control. Can Landon quench the fire between them? Does he want to? Or will it burn out of control?

Serengeti Heat was a delicious novella to devour but savor slowly. Andrews has penned a compact, passionate short story that is extremely well written, in fact better than some full-length paranormal novels I have read. Sometimes writing a short story is a bigger challenge than a full-fledged novel. No words are wasted by Andrews but each and every one designed for steamy impact. The outcome is a tasteful piece that will win audiences over. I’m sold. I will definitely be reading more of Vivi Andrews starting with the sequel Serengeti Storm!

I really liked this story. It's short but sweet. I really enjoyed Ava and Landon together.

Ava is a lion shifter. She's small for a lion shifter and has been bottom of the pack because of it. She's never really had anything for herself and the one thing she wants is Landon. She doesn't believe she could ever keep him long term but she fell for him the first time she saw him (as a nomad lion entering the pack) so when she gets a chance at a night with him she goes for it.

Landon is pretty cool, I liked him a lot. He and his sister were nomads and he challenged for the Alpha spot and took over about 3 months before the story. Up to this point he hasn't seen Ava and when he does finally meet her the attraction is off the charts. It doesn't help that she's in heat at the time but Landon quickly realizes that his feeling for Ava are far more than just the hormones from the heat. He decides he wants her as his mate but she takes some convincing.

I really liked this story (this is my second time reading it) and although it's not real long it doesn't matter because there's not much additonal plot to take away from the main story. It's a good hot read with a happy ending. :D

I picked this title up and breezed through it pretty quickly, not surprising at all of sixty pages. This was a cute little shifter tale, and a good start to the series in-so-far-as it was able to establish both setting and future goals for our shifter society. That said, I still would have liked to have seen more world building, and was quite annoyed with the author when there was a chance expand the readers understanding of the shifter society and where it would be heading in the future and the opportunity was passed over in favor of our hero not paying attention to what was being said. I found this shortcut a tad bit sloppy/lazy. Ms. Andrews did excel at incorporating the hot and steamy parts and building that into a romantic relationship and not just a casual fling; commendable in such a short word-count without pre-existing relationships. The characters were likeable, and even the secondary characters were somewhat defined. It made me interested enough that I might look into more books in this series.

(This review may contain spoilers).

All right, so I started reading this book over a year ago and then ended up stopping because I got a bit overwhelmed by the... well, sex, sex, sex. I like romance well enough and I do like paranormal romance (which has an abundance of sex), but most of them have a bit of plot outside of it.

Anyway, I eventually started over from the beginning and I have to say that the book was fairly quick and easy to read. The sex scenes were very graphic and although the book was short, the characters came across as fairly well-developed and likable.

I was surprised that the conflict was so well-handled. It was such a short story that I expected it to feel rushed, but it all worked particularly well. I plan to read the next books in this series, so the author's done a really good job with this... and it's a nice, uncomplicated read for when I don't want to have to think too much.

I honestly love Vivi Andrews' style of writing. It's very light and readable and I never felt bogged down by it. She effortlessly brought Ava to life for me and made me feel how hard she's trying to accept her place in the Pride without allowing the crushing realization that she'll always be the runt of the Pride destroy her.

From Ava's first run-in with Landon in the bar to their sizzling, door-breaking coming together, the two of them clicked for me. Landon's more focused on what he needs to do for his new pride than choosing a mate. Ava's sure she's exactly the opposite of what he needs as a partner. He's trying to do the right thing, she's trying to rebel for the first time in her life.

I don't know, they just worked and worked well.

Yes, I'll definitely be reading a lot more by Vivi Andrews.

For being a such a short story, this book was exceedingly good! The plot isn't just about sex, it actually had meaning and depth, despite the fact that it was so short. You really grow to care about Ava in such a short time, and the rest of the characters leave you wanting to learn their stories as well! While not actually set in Africa, it does make mention of comparisons between the two places. I was pleasantly surprised by this quick and engaging story, and will be looking for the rest of the books in the series to go on sale as well!

Edit to Add: After reading the synopsis of the rest of the books in the series as well as reviews for the series listed here and a sample of book 2, I've decided to abandon the series. It doesn't seem like it would be worth the cost for books that are so short.

I absolutely loved this book!!! All the characters were fantastic and I really loved the relationship between Landon and Ava. Though the story was way too short and the end action was very short-lived and not very developed, I still totally loved it all and absolutely cannot wait to read the rest of the series! The heat between them was scorching and I really loved how despite the fact that she was so small and weak, she was still brave and tough enough to stand her ground and stand with her mate against the two threats. I also really loved how big and protective her brothers were, though I would have probably had to scratch a few strips from their hides if they were that over-protective, but you could easily see how much they loved her so all was forgiven lol ;)

I really liked this introduction to the Serengeti Shifters series.

Little Ava Minor is used to being bullied and pushed around because she is smaller than the other lionesses of her pride. Ava's size does not stop her from longing for the prides Alpha Landon King. Ava decides to take a walk on the wilder side and lands in Landon's sights. He can only wonder why he didn't notice her before now. Landon is certain he can strengthen the pride with Ava at his side - if only he can convince her.

This was typical Vivi Andrews in that it was entertaining, witty, sexy, quick to catch your and hold your attention and much too short. This has been in TBR stack way too long but I'm glad I decided to read it now.

First in a trilogy of Pride Lion Shifters somewhere in the midwest.

Ava Minor, smallest lioness in the pride is used to being bullied, and picked on by everyone in the pride. Her brothers are the enforcers and whilst they wouldn't let anyone pick on her while they were around they don't seem to realise they are worse than anyone else, treating her like she is 15 when she is a woman.

Landon King is the new Alpha and he is looking for a mate but hasn't yet noticed Ava until he meets her in the local dive when she is in heat.

He fairly quickly realises she is the one. Then he only has to convince her. No easy task and of course her brothers surely don't help.

The is a short sweet story that proves attraction doesn't have to follow tradition and the Alpha does not have to mate the strongest female of the Pride. Ava is the runt of the Pride and proves that sometimes dreams come true.

There is a new Alpha in town who has plans to turn Three Rock Pride upside down and although some traditions will stay, Landon plans to bring the Pride into the twenty first century starting with his mate.

Serengeti Heat is a great start to the series, it is well written and there was enough story to keep me interested. Will definitely be continuing the series.

I really like this book. It wasn't very long, which was probably the one thing I didn't like about it, but the story was good and I fell for the characters instantly. It would be better if it were longer, because some of the scenes are a little rushed for time. The more intimate moments between the two main characters however are very well written :) I wouldn't suggest reading this if you're not interested in reading sex scenes, otherwise this is deff worth your time.

This is one of those moment when you want to curse goodreads for not allowing half stars. This book deserves the extra half star. Serengeti Heat was an enjoyable read,it was quick and did feel like a short story but I think it was longer than a short. Nothing much really happened apart from boy noticed girl who had been crushing on boy for a while. Followed by H.O.T. Sex scenes. A few people don't approve. Can boy persuade girl it will work? I wanted more, maybe a fight between Shana and Ava but I still enjoyed the story.

Amazing. I first looked at this novel and i thought, yeah might interest and read it because i was board. I was just amazed it wasn't like most romance that seem to not understand what a plot line is or what a history is. This book was a good read, i couldn't put it down. very impressed. I have now read it twice and must give a big thumbs up to Vivi Andrews for gracing us with such a wonderful book.
