I think this book has a good range of historical concepts from reconstruction to contemporary issues. I however, had a hard time reading this because the voice kept changing since it’s excerpts from tons of different people. There were other excerpts that were quite interesting though. If you want to learn about history from multiple points of view, this is a good book for that. 3/5 stars.

I really liked the mix of documents presented in "For the Record." There were very few outliers in each section and I think this is a good asset to any American history classroom or shelf.

Satisfactory. Emphasis on the Latin “Satis.” Not what I would include in the Meredith Vagner 20th Century Primary Source Reader, but hey, that’s probably a good thing.
