A comprehensive profile book of the hit series Vampire Knight !
Can't get enough of Vampire Knight ?
Delve into the world of your favorite vampires with this official fanbook filled with insider information about the hit series. Includes a Cross Academy student ID card, glossy color pages, character design sketches, storyboards and an exclusive interview with Vampire Knight creator Matsuri Hino!
Matsuri Hino was born on January 24 in Hokkaido. She was a bookshop keeper who one day decided to become a manga artist, and all of nine months later, in 1995, she published her first manga title, Kono Yume ga Sametara (When This Dream Is Over), in Japan's LaLa DX magazine.
This was a great little companion to the Vampire Knight manga series. It had fairly extensive interviews with most of the characters, as well as the author, Matsuri Hino. Hino's comments were also pretty humorous! I really enjoyed the more in-depth look at the Vampire Knight world, and I'd definitely reccomend it for fans of the series.
It wasn't as in-depth as I had hoped, but I still like it because you do get to learn more about several characters, the academy, and a bit about the hunter association and senate, and the drawings throughout are nice to look at. The relationship chart was disappointing because, besides being crammed onto one page so it's a bit awkward to follow, Juri & Haruka's daughter is only listed as 'daughter' and Kaname is listed as their son even though we know . I was also disappointed that there wasn't anything about Rido's child (chart just has female for mother and "Rido's child" for the kid) that I didn't even know he had (I haven't read all the manga yet to know if anything's mentioned in there). Maybe the author just didn't flesh out genealogy since the characters aren't in the manga, but still disappointing to see all these nameless "male", "female", "father", "mother", etc. in the chart. I don't regret buying and reading the book, though; I still think it was worth it.
Does this fanbook contribute majorly to your understanding or enjoyment of the series? No. Was it published several years before the manga ended and is thus missing information on the entire second half of the story? Yes. Does it talk a little bit down to its audience, assuming that you're mostly here for the romantic swoon rather than the intense political power plays? Yes. Is it quite fun anyway and a nice little extra bit of Vampire Knight in your life? Yes. While the book doesn't really have much new information or focuses on what I personally found to be the best parts of the story, it does have some fun content for the fans. I particularly enjoyed getting layouts of the dorm rooms of various characters. A fanbook through and through, I recommend it mainly to fans of the series, perhaps mostly younger fans or those who mainly read it for the romance.
This is in a similar format as a yearbook that fangirls have made sidenotes in. I thought most of the stuff in their was unnecessary as it was scenes cut from the manga. I did however, enjoy the section on vampire society. It gave me more background information.
Some nice full colour pages and tidbits like dorm layouts, but the majority of the book is made up of character profiles and chapter summaries that a reader would already know
The vampire series was good and it was awesome to learn they made it into a book. I would like to read the series and take advance test on it and to write to the authors to see if they will agree to my ideas to write the new book about it and to see to my love for the book.

RANT HERE-REVIEW BELOW I mainly got the Vampire Knight Official Guide for two reasons. One, I want to cosplay as Yuki sometime in the near future and I like to have voom-ins of her outfit seeing as I I would like to make it myself via DIY since I can't sew arms. Seeing as I live Nowhere near ANY conventions, and I also don't have the ability to travel if there was one nearby, I had to have a second reason. Two, I LOVE to draw. Official Guides, Mangas, etc. give me new poses to practice with, different styles for me to think about. It also gives me idea when writing my own stories of what pet peeves or interesting facts to include about my character throughout the books.
There is a number Three, I love Vampire Knight, and I just couldn't resist it. I mean, I already bought all the manga, both seasons on DVD (which I only listen to via Japanese with English subtitles, I love the voice actors, just not for these characters), Yuki's necklace, Yuki's bracelet, a wristband with school logo, a deck of VK playing cards, and a Zero keychain (Yes, I am a Zero fan. No, I'm not a Team Zero, teams only allow little girls to fight, it's absolutely crazy! And yes, I say little not because they are really little, but they act really little! Everyone should be allowed to pick a guy they like for the main character, or themself in some cases, and we shouldn't bag on them for it.) So yeah, I couldn't resist buying the official guide.
Oh, I guess there is a forth reason, to remind me of little tidbits when I go for 3 months or more waiting for the next VK volume. So yeah, this book has gotten a lot more wear and tear than any of my VK volumes because I use it for a lot more. One thing I do wish though is that they'd go more into the artemis rod and give a better drawing of it. I'm going to start building it for Halloween next year, seeing as that is the only time I can actually dress up in my cosplay without people staring at me like I'm crazy. Since I live in a not-so-big town, yeah, everyone knows me! What's sad is that they haven't found out I am crazy yet! Ha ha, just kidding!
REVIEW HERE-RANT ABOVE Yes, I love to be able to add this to my VK collection. It is a great guide with plenty of information on what is allowed for Cross Academy uniforms. It also gives information on each character. It also helps you catch up if you've had to wait several months for the next volume and don't have the time to go back and read it. In all, it is a great guide for Vampire Knight Fans and an excellent piece to add to your collection. Not only that, but you get a Cross Academy Student Card so that you can fill it out. I ordered this via Internet, so I got the Kaname fan card, I don't know what other fan cards they offered, but I wanted Zero. Oh well, if I didn't order it via Internet, I wouldn't have gotten it at all!
Cute, informational, and gives some fun extra details I didn't know otherwise about Cross Academy, like Day Class-Night Class events and the school song. The character profiles are mostly things current readers should already know, but we do learn some fun details like their daily habits, favorite foods, blood type, and they also include characters interviews with questions from the readers and a little commentary on each character from other characters in the manga. While the information about the vampire world is also basically stuff most readers already know, the latter half is more useful informatively and may help people that are currently confused with the manga's plot, since it explains many things with organized charts. I even ended up understanding the whole vampire political situation, which had been a complete blur in my head up until then.
Most of it is about the Academy's adoration of the Night Class and Yuuki's crush on Kaname, though, so if you really more of a Zero or Zeki fan, I wouldn't recommend buying it since they get very little page-time in comparison. However, it is a fun read for any Vampire Knight fan and I would at least take a peek at some of the funniest parts like the character interviews and the details about Aidou's habits (he turned out to be WAY more of a Kaname fanboy than I had previous realized, LOL!) :)
It didn’t meet my expectations perhaps because my expectations were too high. When I got this fanbook I was quit far in the story so it came as a disappointment that the fanbook only got as far as volume 6/7. So all the nice and interesting stuff (not going to mention because of the spoilers) wanted included in this fanbook.
Alright. This can happened no big deal I will wait for fanbook 2…………. It never came.
If you are a diehard fan and you want to complete your collection go ahead and buy it. If you want to buy it because you want some information and haven’t finished all volumes yet. Go ahead and buy it. If you want to buy it and you read all 19 volumes. Don’t buy it. It is not worth it.
Still can't seem to get enough of this series. This fanbook gives a nice copy of some new artwork along with character profiles, back stories, side stories, maps, interviews, and a handful of other fun for fans to enjoy. Perhaps a bit more reading than the usual manga as there is more text than picture panels, but worth it for a little enjoyment and series love. There are still plenty of pretty pictures to stare at in the mix.
A fabulous book for those interested in anything to do with character design, vampires, and manga! I really enjoyed it. It's not the kind of book that you could read in one sitting as there is a lot of information, but it is a nice book to dip into for a little break.
I always like the character books because it has biographies and histories of charachters we don't see in the books. So this was neat. You get to see originals story boards and brainstorms that never made it to the story too. Very cool
It was a nice insight into the series I love so much. It is filled with beautiful artwork and bio's of the character that made me understand them even more. It's a must read for any Vampire Knight fan.
This is an excellent guide for all fans of Vampire Knight. It provides an understanding and greater insight to the world of Yuki, Zero and Kaname. I think that it is a must have for any true fan and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Just a very precise, up-to-date book on the characters and actions occurring in the Vampire Knight series. Plus there's pictures, short comics, and interviews included in this fanbook.

Just loved learning more about the characters! It gives a great insight on the art work at the end, and it has fun information to read. Every Vampire Knight fan MUST read!
