This is a great book for beginning readers, with only one simple sentence per page. It has great illustrations, although page 8 (which seems to be out of order) shows liquid pancake mix being poured out of a carton and page 10 shows a cloud of powder when the pancake mix is added.

The chef asks the reader to find a Mom or Dad to help. He uses mice. (Reminiscent of Ratatouille) A mouse puppet can be used easily with this book as a reading buddy. Additional information is available in the front and back of the book to assist with reading. We only used the story during storytime, so the other pages were paper clipped together.
This is a good book about making pancakes for younger children. The narrative is simple and is accompanied by fun and colorful illustrations. We enjoyed reading this together and it makes us want to make some pancakes. Yum!
