This exam prep prepares you to enter practice. The certification exam was not difficult, imho. I largely owe that opinion to my compulsion to over-study and this book.

I studied this to take the AANP family practice exam after 12 years of being an NP, then taking 4 years off to raise a child. It helped me refresh and update my knowledge, but I was surprised how few test questions seemed to come from it. I highly recommend also taking the practice tests offered by www.aanp-fnp.com. I bought 10 tests and took them, and I like that they give the rationale for the right answer. Advanced Practice Education Associates (apea.com) also offers practice test for a higher price, but they are helpful too. I did pass by a wide margin : )

One of the best NP books I've read. I'm sure I'll refer to this book for years to come. Excellent review for boards. Only wish it was available as an ebook so I could have it with me regularly as a handy resource.
