A look at the remarkable career of Michael Jordan discusses the star's childhood, his early training in basketball, his professional career, and his role as a corporate spokesman. Reprint.
I loved it! It was written right after he finally won his first title so know one knows at that point that he will be considered the goat at that point. The books talks about the history of sports endorsement which i found fascinating. It also talks about his lack of involvement with civil rights and political causes in order to maximize his appeal. One last nugget is they keep comparing MJs likability to Bill Cosby. Oh if they only knew then what we know now.
The book "Taking TO The Air" by Jim Naughton is probably the second best book I have read, because I like basketball. The book was a autobiography on Michael Jordan which is hands down the best basketball player that ever played the game of basketball. Michael Jordan, Scotty Pippen, John Stockton, David Robinson, Charles Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwon, Karl Malone, Gary payton, Clyde Dexter, and patrick Ewing all were the top 10 90s players. They were all really good players but Michael Jordan was a shocker when he came into the NBA. I think alot of people doubted him when he came into the NBA but he really showed everybody how good he is at the game of basketball. In the book the author talks about how nice Michael Jordan actually was. One of the quotes from the book was " Michael Jordan could walk into a building full of white people and get along with everyone of them". Which shows on how respectful he was for other people. The other thing that was cool about Michael Jordan is he was never a cocky player he knew he was good but he didnt brag about it though. Unlike Kobe Bryant when he came into the NBA someone interviewed him and Kobe bryant said im better then Michael Jordan hands down then a couple years ago he got interviewed again and then the reporter asked the same question and Kobe said what kind of question is that Michael Jordan is the best. The question was are you better then Michael Jordan and at first kobe said yes but then the second interview his answerd changed to no. Kobe bryant was good no doubt about that but not as good as Michael Jordan. There is people better then Michael Jordan like Lebron James and some other players. Michael Jordan was famous for his free throw line dunk. He would get so much air and just fly to the hoop for the dunk with his tongue hanging out of his mouth.
I thought taking to the air was a good book about Michael Jordan's life. For somebody that really wants to read about how Michael Jordan played the game and what he went through. I think you should read this book.
The book that I read "Taking To The Air" it was written by Jim Naughton and it is about Michael Jordan and how he became the greatest to ever play the game. It talks about him winning his championships and his MVP's. It also says somethings about when he and Scottie Pippen were on the team and they were considered one of the best dynamic (do o's) in NBA history. It talk a little about how he came back in to the League two times. He retired then came back and then retired and then came back and then retired again. It says that the third time he was in the league he was on the Washington Wizards and a little about his baseball career in the MLB. This book was very interesting and I now know more about Michael Jordan and how he became the best and how I can try to be like him.
