It’s follow the illustrated prompts and read the English words out loud, and soon you’ll be speaking Spanish. This handy, easy-to-read language guide is easy to carry and gives the basic phrases you need while traveling, asking directions, or ordering food at a restaurant. It also includes phrases for medical or legal emergencies, as well as terminology for hotels, airports, and so on. But most of all, it’s just plain fun!
It's okay for what it is... this book is aimed at beginners who have no Spanish experience and who might want to learn a few phrases fast. Unfortunately, if people speak the way these examples are presented, they will have a very BAD accent. They will sound like sorority girls ordering "dos cervesas" in a cantina in Tijuana.
I knew going in that this book would not be the one for me, but my Spanish is better than this. I was just really curious how the information was presented. For myself, I would not bother with other language books of the same type or from the same publisher. For example, my French is really poor, but I wouldn't pick up a French Slanguage for fear of sounding just as horrible to francophone ears.
I got this book on a whim thinking it'd be a fun easy way to learn a bit of Spanish, which it was. That being said though, I wouldn't use it as the basis of learning a new language. Yes it was fun to have a flick through to learn a couple of phrases, but you have to take it with st least a handful of salt. Again, great for a laugh, but if you want to learn this or any language, I'd look elsewhere for a more legitimate programme.
The book makes accurate pronunciation very easy. Would be nice to see an expanded version. Going to take study (more than one read) and usage to remember all the phrases. Excellent language learning aid.
I whipped through this book in 10-15 minutes. It's a nice refresher if you have a basic knowledge of Spanish and can help you practice your pronunciations. I do have to laugh at some of the illustrations, though, as some of them are a bit off.
