A very competent guide to the art of food styling, intended for professionals entering the field. Since I'm just an curious reader, not an aspiring food stylist, I was a little out of my depth with much of this text, yet I found it fascinating none the less. My appreciation for food photographs has grown as a result of this book and the details it reveals about the careful art and science of arranging food to look good on film. Viva home ec!

Probably the most useful existing book on food styling. It actually has many of the tips you can hear in some modern courses, and much more. I do believe it's a must-have for those working with food photography.

I've said time and time again: I'm working on becoming the premier food photographer of OH. (Read my blog. You'll get the idea.)

Photographing food is difficult. Especially when the number one thing I'm doing with food is trying to make it taste good. That's what first made me interested in Plate to Pixel.

But this book is about real, commercial food photography. It has every trick and tool of the trade. It's a must have if commercial food photography is your goal.

Great reference material.

If you want to learn more about food photography - real, professional, glue-in-cereal food photography - this is a fantastic book. It was very thorough, clear and included good explanations of trade secrets for successfully styling food for photography.

Delores Custer has written the definitive book on Food Styling. She covers all of the tools and techniques necessary to be a proficient stylist. Tons of information and great photos throughout. Until someone writes something better, this is the "go to" book on the subject.
