Cute, clever, and well designed. It does a nice job of introducing fractions in a way kids can understand. Useless as a read-aloud, sadly, but great for kids to read alone or one-on-one. Follow up with some actual apples and it's golden! The page about the last muffin cracked me up. :)
This is a great book to use to introduce fractions to a young audience. It gives great real life pictures and situations where students can find fractions. It also simplifies fractions so that students can begin to understand fractions.
I would use this book as an introduction to fractions for a second grade class. I would have them try to think about real life things and situations where they may find factions and have them share with the class.
This is a good read aloud book. It is good to introduce fractions. It is not a hard read and the children can read it on their own too. I liked that it used apples because apples are things children eat often and can relate to. The only thing is that it only uses a few fractions. A whole, a half and a fourth. But it is a good way to start your math lesson as an introduction.
My son is 24 months and he loves this book. I love that it is a gentle, simplistic introduction to fractions. It has some humor at the end and great photos. Highly recommended.
