Being just-past-beginner stage in yoga, I was looking for something I could use by myself at home when I couldn't make it to a yoga class. This book has just the perfect level of clarity to provide information about doing poses properly and putting them together into a practice that, as a novice, I can feel confident about.
The text is concise and the chapters and pictures are very well organized. The book itself is in a useful spiral-spine format with a firm cardboard flap that allows you stand the book in front of you on the floor and easily flip pages as you practice. The book includes several practices for specific purposes such as for first thing in the morning, for back pain, for after vigorous exercise, for asthma, and other specific needs and times of day.
I liked this book at first glance, and after trying most of the posture flows, I still like it very much. Different from the ones I learned in my several years of Kripalu Yoga classes, but just as useful. Different levels of difficulty are well-described and the purpose for each set of postures is titled for each chapter. The format or template with plenty of photos is very clear and easy to understand, its designed to help you to try the yoga they describe at home. Nice to do without a video!!! Not as good as being in a class if you want to learn, but its great guide!!
