Unity and Diversity is the 6th vol. of the journal Oneing: An Alternative Orthodoxy, published by the Center for Action and Contemplation. It is my first time reading from this publication, and it is indeed a tremendous resource for theologians, mystics, and activists alike. It’s chapters are short, very approachable, and diverse in topic. From eco-theological justice to a study on LGBTQ spirituality, Unity and Diversity reveals the beauty of differences between us all; which, paradoxically teaches us about Unity. A major teaching throughout this volume is how ‘fear of the other’ is unchristian, and in response we must open ourselves first to loving God, then to loving our neighbor. Thus, “God loved is neighbor loved.”
Beautiful practical, though tough, theology for us all to live by.
