This is the 9th volume of Largo Winch by Philippe Francq (artist) and Jean Van Hamme (script writer). It's a Belgian comic series which can be found translated to English. The series contain 18 volumes up to the moment of writing this review.

The economic crises threatens the oil division in the W Group. A warning fax letter addressed to Largo Winch costs lives in the Group's premise. The mystery is ought to be solved in Venice. LW is determined to settle the whole thing in Largo Style. Action never ceases to amaze me in this series and it continues in its amazing pace and well-written plot with a cliffhanger at the end.

Najboljši začetek zgodbe do zdaj. Ker se vsaj do neke mere izogne strukturi vseh prejšnjih zgodb - zaroti proti Largu (čeprav je tu spet skrivnostno svarilo). In ker si vzame tudi dovolj časa za akcijo in deloma (ženske) like.

Традиційно велику сюжетну арку в серії “Ларго Вінч” ділять на два альбома. В першому все погано, ходять поганці, повно зради, помилок та пасток. В другому Ларго самотужки або з друзями все розрулює. Отакий от молодий талант на чолі групи компаній ”W”. І це один з небагатьох елементів фантастики в цьому екшн-серіалі, бо сценарист просто підмішує свою вигадану історію у фактаж реального світу (на той момент часу, коли відбувається сюжет). Цим, власне, “Ларго Вінч” і зацікавлює, хоча і тут повно суто європейського фан-сервісу з шикарними жінками.
Арка про Венецію, дворянина, який шукає, де б вибити собі грошей, Червоні бригади (якщо ще пам’ятаєте про такі), нафтовий картель та пані в біді. І, власне, про Ларго Вінча, який досі розбирається з теперішніми та бувшими членами ради директорів своєї групи компаній і навколо якого через все вищеперераховане почали гинути люди. В момент, коли пані потрапляє в біду, на сцені з’являється Ларго і обіцяє все порішати.
Історія на рівні хорошого шпигунського роману з купою невідомих лиходіїв, але без шпигунів та супергаджетів.
Намальовано чудово. До постановки кадрів взагалі ніяких питань, комікс можна сміливо використовувати як посібник для коміксистів-початківців. Діалогів забагато, і цим альбом нагадує класичні графічні романи (щоправда, діалоги більше по ділу, а не для того, щоб розжувати сюжет до стану пюрешки). Добре, що немає величезних блоків з текстом від оповідача.

A new story arc begins and an interesting one!
Somewhere, a sinister plot is being undertaken by someone in the shadows against Largo Winch!
Later, a person is hunted down and killed in Venice, not long before he sends a 'danger' fax to Largo
Two women from the Fax / Courier team of the W group are hunted down and killed - in daylight - inside the main admin building just because they saw the fax. The killer himself is killed before Largo could catch him.
As everything points to Venice and Largo's on and off girlfriend had gone on a trip to Venice, Largo decides to go there - a week before meeting an Indonesian minister and signing an oil contract on the Indonesian lands.
And in Venice, Largo's girlfriend, Charity and her female companion are attacked and Charity is kidnapped in the middle of a palazo on a helicopter by Italian terrorist group minutes before Largo arrives.
Are all these events interlinked?
Do they have something to do with the Indonesian oil contract?
Already 3 are dead, will there be more?
Onto the concluding album!

Van Hamme is crafty and inventive. Always. Sometimes it's forced or in excess of willing disbelief but undeniably qualifies as quality screenwriting.
One death within is as nearly unmatchable in action entertainment. I have no memory of anything as satisfying in the way of a long death scene.

I'll read anything Francq.
He alone would keep me reading this series even if he was bonded with a bore. Always wonderful with the women but I'm even starting to appreciate the look of the guys. He simply draws immaculate characters as a rule- since years before this was released.
He's like a relationship with a spirit or smoke as you gain more and more appreciation per indulgence.
Otherwise, the color is very unreliable with my edition. Sometimes it's infernal others insidious. Like the strangely pure gold eyes that peacock men in the sun.

Heb me opnieuw vermaakt met dit album van Largo Winch... Het album draait voor een groot deel rond een faxbericht... waar is de tijd... Het herlezen van deze avonturen is ook een beetje het opnieuw meemaken van bepaalde maatschappelijke en technische evoluties... Nou ja, genoeg nostalgie !
Dit vind ik één van de betere Largo-strips, een perfecte mengeling van 007-achtig avontuur, economische intriges en vrouwelijk schoon. Op naar het volgende album!

Malgré l'avalanche de clichés, celui-là est un tome excellent, plein de rebondissements, avec les décors splendidement rendus de Venise.

I don't usually read graphic novels, but wanted to try this one, because it is set in Venice. I feel like there isn't really happening anything and the texts are rather boring and plain.
