Nice short story. First time read for Jennifer Cole. The beginning was VERY rough and the writing was definitely amateurish. This is a "love at first sight" story, so if you generally dislike the premise, DEFINITELY avoid this one because it's not handled smoothly believeably with such (what appears to be) a "green" author at this stage and a rushed short story format. That said ... I ended up enjoying how the author was able to develop her writing skills by book end. Her tension, love scenes, emotion and story arch worked by the time I got to the end of the book. I do have to comment that I pretty much HATED the hero at the beginning (when he encounters the heroine's uncle in the gas station ... he sounded like a pompous ass!), but by mid-story when he was explaining his life situation and how he was loving the country lifestyle and hating how he was living in such a rat race, it seemed to explain my first impression of his behavior. Definitely needed a sense of that. Additionally, Cole should drop the constant "my baby" and "baby" in (what feels like) every phrase the hero utters to the heroine. (AARG!) Don't get me wrong ... I love a COUPLE (as in 2!) "baby" affectionatly added terms here or there! But she was out of control with them to the point that I wanted to barf if he said it again! LOL! That said, I did feel Dax and Kendal's passion and could believe they had a love-at-first-sight-Ahh-Hah moment. That's saying a lot, and it compelled me forward in reading their story.
Again, the story seems rushed, and love at first sight is always a hard pill to swallow, but I didn't go away with a feeling like this little e-book was "time wasted." She hit all the high points of "romance," for me, and her sex scene in the limo was VERY well done (a real fantasy ride! ;)
