Zig Ziglar never ceases to deliver greatness. In this book (Over The Top) Ziglar explains where the top is, how to get there and how to live beongd the top. Zilglar breaks it down into very doable actions and walks us through each of them. It is a good idea to take copious notes and stop to do each step after you have read his description. These actions have had proven life changing results for many who apply the steps.I also recommend any of Zig Ziglar's videos on youtube for he is an incredibl

I don't have much to argue about with Ziglar. I mostly enjoyed his ideas of how to become a better person and subsequently improve your life in all areas. My cynical side tends to come out when I read books like this, and each testimonial and real-life story make my eyebrows raise just a bit more. Especially how a disproportionate number of them end up in sales. But still...not without merit.

Zig encourages us to be over the top (in a good way!) in who we are and what we are becoming (first and foremost) and in what we do. He does so in such a way that is God honoring. Don't expect to find out how to trample the competition to get ahead. Don't think you'll find ways to succeed at the expense of those closest to you. Honoring God, being a blessing to others, and becoming our best self is at the core of Zig's message.

Zig's popularity didn't really explode until this book was released for the first time in 1993.

Zig Ziglar never ceases to teach me principles needed in my life. Over the Top was a fantastic read and ideal for anyone who has a passion for leadership or developing themselves personally. I found this book was filled with time-less principles anyone should exude who wishes to have a life that continues to move forward. I would recommend this book to anyone in my life.

I have been following the late Zig Ziglar for many years now. I often found that I would read a few pages of his book and it didn't really connect with me. I have managed to read this one cover to cover. Then I realised something.
It is Zig's charisma, personality and energy in his audio books that makes the difference! If you can get over the initial reaction of 'is he preaching to me, I feel like I am in church', you will learn a lot! ...more

Zig shares a lot of stories in his writing. He talks of people who have made success out of what most would see as losing hands in life. Zig lays out detailed, step-by-step plans for life-changing success that anyone should follow in some form. I do myself, and I demand it of my clients as well.
And if you follow the advice and direction given in this book, I will see you – and yes I really do mean YOU – not just at the top, I will see you OVER The Top!

A little bit too religious for me.
Repetitive.
Outdated using advices like listening to cassettes. It's normal because it was writen in 97'-00'.
I wouldn't say it was full of new stuff because I read Deep Work before and it seemed like an older version of Deep Work. ...more

Live life sensibly and to the fullest. Be smart and stay informed!

This book is long like the other books Ziglar wrote. It is less funny and has less stories than some of his other books. The content is also quite repetitive and preachy. However, there are too many words of wisdom in this book that I also consider another of Ziglar's best works.

I liked the examples in the book. They were practical and apt. And they talked of everyday people, farmers and railroad workers who went on to win Olympic medals and companies.
Highlights of this book:
1. You cannot rise above your words.
2. It's a cat kicking world, don't let people pull you down to their level of misery.
3. Change the way you say hello.
4.Be tough on yourself.
5. Feed your mind.

Mamie McCullough's Books
I found Zig Ziglar because of someone he influenced, Mamie McCullough. I picked up her books at a yardsale, was hooked, and had to find out more about Zig Ziglar. I'm glad I did.
Over the Top is full of insights like "failure is an event, not a person" (vii), that you need to feed your motivation daily (112), and that "you can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want" (159). I also found the sections on goals programs helpful; they inspired me ...more

This is an oldie but a goodie. I am NOT a self help book reader by any means. But I was inspired and have gone back to this book more than once to help me to get centered again. Pg. 71 "The first step in growth is action" It's a tear jerker and a wake up call. We are all capable of whatever we can dream!!

Zig is a great motivational authour i think this is far realistic motivational book i have read. The principle a true and practical. If applied it not only give you want money can buy but also what money can't buy. I recommend it for anyone who feels is down the trenches, failure is an event not a person.

Great book. Motivating and inspiring. I set short, mid and long term goals in the middle of reading this book and I've been sticking to them. This is the first Zig Ziglar book I've read and I'm gonna have to find another one.
