An Abundance of Blessings
Heather Creek Farm is blanketed in snow and ice as the heart of winter settles over Nebraska, but things are heating up for the Stevenson family. Emily, embarrassed by an innocent mistake, takes up a new hobby that could bring Charlotte and her granddaughter closer together - if it doesn't tear them apart first. Meanwhile, Sam makes some new friends who aren't exactly Charlotte's cup of tea, and Christopher learns more about the farm's horses than he ever wanted to know.
And when Pete comes across a car that's veered off the road, he tows the driver to safety and lands in trouble of his own. His budding relationship with Dana hits the skids when the grateful driver, Lisa Grienke, starts paying him lots of attention. Charlotte watches helplessly as Pete edges toward throwing away the best relationship he's ever had.
Through it all, Charlotte struggles with letting go of what people think about her and her family and focusing on the abundance of blessings around her.

It’s winter time and Charlotte agrees to watch her two granddaughters while their parents are on a trip. Charlotte is overwhelmed with all the rules their mother left and trying to cope with the problems of her three grandchildren that live with her. Charlotte’s son is having a crisis of faith and with two girlfriends, Sam makes new friends and gets himself in trouble, Emily is having trouble fitting in and Christoper has to figure how to do a presentation on horses. Jealousy between the daughter-in-law with all her picky rules and between the grandchildren doesn’t help anything.

I didn't realize this book was part of a series, so in the beginning, it was hard to keep track of who was who. If you're new to the series, it might be better to start with an earlier book.
This book doesn't have a single plot arc; it's more like a slice of life for a Christian grandmother who's dealing with rearing three grandchildren after their mother's death. In this book, her two other grandchildren come to stay with her, and the book describes the relationship troubles and family conflicts they experience as they try to navigate life in a small town.
The interactions were more realistic than in some Christian fiction I've read, and the author doesn't portray perfect lives or show prayer immediately fixing everything. It does show the power of faith to help keep you going during tough times.

It's winter in Nebraska and Charlotte is still finding her way with her grandchildren. Emily has more problems with Nicole, the pastor's daughter. Sam has new friends that Charlotte is not so sure of. Christopher has a project for school and it involves horses. Charlotte is going to teach Emily and her friend Ashley to sew. Charlotte realizes she shouldn't be so worried about what people think but remember she has An Abundance Of Blessings. Carolyne Aarsen wrote this new installment of Home to Heather Creek.

Another installment in a good series. This continues the story of Grandparents who are raising their 3 grandchildren whose mother has passed away and their father is not in the picture. I'm looking forward to reading more of this heartfelt series.

I am hoping my library can find me the rest of the books in this series! I am so glad I came across the second book and I have not been able to put the books down! I have read the first 7 of the series and cannot wait to read on to see how their lives unfold.

A quick read! I really enjoyed it.
Grandparents are raising their three grandkids after the parents are killed in a car accident. There are many problems they encounter along the way. This is a true to life issue written about very well.

Book 6 in the "Home to Heather Creek" series
After hanging out with her young cousins in the attic, Emily uncovers vintage clothing, cool enough and different enough for her to wear. Grandpa and Jennifer too want in on the clothing finds.
Pete gets defensive when folks (especially Charlotte) ask what he's up to. After helping someone out, does she (the woman he helps) in turn, seek him out?
Charlotte gets more than she bargains for when Bill and Anna go on vacation without the children and she agrees to watch Jennifer and Madison. Anna wants her to homeschool the girls, having multitudinous assignments all planned out for them.
Some things are happening at the high school causing finger-pointing.
Sam's been invited to spend the weekend at a friend's house.

Fantastic series of Guidepost books. Home to Heather Creek series follows the family through the months after their daughter is killed in a car accident. Easy reading and very inspirational. I love series books and this series is full of good characters. Wish there were more!!

December 18, 2016I love dropping in on The Stevensons. This story has Charlotte in charge of all her grandchildren for a week. It was fun to see Emily interact with her two little girl cousins. And finding vintage clothes in the attic!
