فيه ثمانية وثلاثين قصة حقيقية لسفن عجز ملاحوها عن إنقاذها حتى غرقت بالكامل، ولكن أغلبهم عاش ليروي لنا ما حدث. استمتعت به جداً في البداية ثم بدأ يداخلني الملل ولكني بلا شك استفدت منه كثيراً
إن كنت تحب الإبحار فهذا كتاب رائع فيه أحداث وأساليب ملاحية ومهارات نسمع ونقرأ عنها نظرياً ولكن لم نختبرها حقيقة. ولكن الرواة هنا يتكلمون عن واقع ما جرى لهم فعلاً
وإن لم تكن من أهل البحر فقد يكون مملاً بعض الشيء وبالذات لوجود الكثير من التكرار، وهو تكرار غير مقصود فكثير من الظروف تتشابه
وإذا اعتبرته كتاب سلامة بحرية، وهو في الأصل ليس كذلك، فستجده من أحسن ما كُتِب في السلامة! فكلٌ من قصصه فيه وصف لممارسات واستخدامات لأدوات السلامة بشكل واقعي جداً
يعيبه الطابع السردي للقصص الواردة، ربما لأن الكاتب ليس إلا جامعاً لهذه القصص من رواتها، ويبدو أنه لم يبذل ذلك العناء في التحرير والكتابة الأدبية
من فوائد الكتاب
لبس سترة السلامة لا يكفي وإنما يجب ربطها جيداً ومن أسفل! وإلا ارتفعت فوق الرأس واصبحت تزعج أكثر مما تنقذ
المياه الباردة تقتل في نصف ساعة! ولذا رأيت معظم هؤلاء الملاحين يلبس ملابس خاصة استعداداً للبقاء في الماء وانتظار الفرج
أجهزة اللاسلكي والملاحة الحديثة عظيمة الأهمية والفعالية
ولكن الأهم منها هو قدرة الشخص على الصبر
