Old-growth forests contain more than just the world's tallest trees. Interactions between trees, plants, insects, fungus, streams, fish, and animals create a unique and delicate ecosystem that develops over many hundreds of years. This unique guide includes maps and directions on where to find these ancient forests, plus a wealth of natural history information.
What a lovely (and much needed) book. Although published in 2000, it highlights the importance of conserving and restoring old growth forests in the northwest of the U.S. and Canada.
A beautifully illustrated little book with wonderful descriptions of the trees and other living things in old growth forests from Alaska to California. I learned a few things, and have a few things to fact check (this book is from 25 years ago now) and I really want to stumble across a copy to purchase of my own in some used bookstore from my future. :)
