About the author

After Napoleon III seized power in 1851, French writer Victor Marie Hugo went into exile and in 1870 returned to France; his novels include The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1831) and Les Misérables (1862).

This poet, playwright, novelist, dramatist, essayist, visual artist, statesman, and perhaps the most influential, important exponent of the Romantic movement in France, campaigned for human rights. People in France regard him as one of greatest poets of that country and know him better abroad.

Diese Version von Les Misérables ist extrem vereinfacht und eignet sich hervorragen, wenn man die Geschichte auf Französisch kennen lernen will. Die Bezeichnung Niveau B1, ist meiner Meinung nach richtig. Das Buch ist auch im Unterricht einsetzbar, da es durch viele Übungen ergänzt wurde. Wer das Buch nicht lesen möchte, dem empfehle ich auf jeden Fall die Filmreihe mit Gérard Depardieu, auch wenn sie extrem lange dauert, lohnt es sich dran zu bleiben. Ich werde mich nächstens an der Orginalversion von Victor Hugo versuchen, auch wenn mir die fast 2000 Seiten auf Französisch noch etwas Kopfschmerzen bereiten.
Die Geschichte an sich gefällt mich sehr gut und ich rate jedem sich einmal mit Les Misérables auseinander zu setzen, egal in welcher Form.

Veerle moest dit boekje lezen voor Frans en ik heb haar erbij geholpen. Het is een heel erg pakkend boek en het weerspiegeld zeer goed de problemen van die tijd in Frankrijk.
