Little Kid Reaction: My son did not have a strong reaction to this book. Not good, not bad. He did sit while I read the whole book.

Big Kid Reaction: This was a so-so book for me. The illustrations are fun. The bear is cute and Lily is an adorable little girl. I did not like the way the little girl spoke to her mother, though: "I won't lie down. I won't shut my eyes. I don't want to play tomorrow. I want to play NOW!" We don't speak like that in our house, and I do not wish to have these words modeled for my children. The mother handles the situation very gently, allowing Lily to discover for herself that bedtime is for going to sleep.

“I'm really, really busy and I'm not going to sleep!” says Lily. Her mother wants her to continue playing tomorrow but Lily just isn't ready for bed. She won't lie done, she won't shut her eyes, she simply wants to play. But, when a bear rings the door bell, Lily thinks its party time instead of bedtime.
Together Lily and the bear go on an adventure. They fly into the air on her bed over treetops and chimneys. They ride a wave and land on a beach. Bear has drinks, ice cream sundaes and sweet treats. Lily makes sandcastles, pebble faces and patterns out of pretty shells. They dance and swirl but Lily starts to get a little sleepy and decides it's time for bed but not before one last good night kiss from mom.
This is a delightful story for kids. It is also a great counting story. The illustrations of colorful and fun and really bring this story to life.

Lily is too busy to go to sleep, so the Bear with Sticky Paws flies her bed out the window and they go to a beach party instead.

I'm not sure what to think about this book. It seems that this is not the first book about the Bear with Sticky Paws, and I felt that he lacked a proper introduction in this book for people like me who have not read the original. There was also a weird counting section in the middle of the book that I didn't really feel fit in with the rest.

But those are minor flaws. The illustrations are absolutely charming, and my four-year-old son liked the story a lot, especially the flying bed.
