A Baby's Cry

Rate this book
A baby's cry echoed through the years...

Taylor Robinson and Dillon Reeves had once been the perfect couple - high school sweethearts voted the most likely to marry and have a big family. Only, Taylor's wealthy family had proven too rich for Dillon's blood, and he'd left town without ever looking back...without ever knowing about Taylor's delicate condition.

Now, ten years later, Taylor had reason to believe her and Dillon's baby hadn't been stillborn, after all. Only, no one will believe her, least of all Detective Dillon Reeves. Against all odds, Taylor struggles to reunite the family that never was... but should have been.

This was pretty good, with enough red herrings to keep you guessing the whodunits and the whys. But some stuff was way over-the-top, especially toward the end, when the author did a bit of a rush job revealing all the secrets and tying up the loose ends.

And the epilogue should have said two or three years later, because all that stuff happening in just one was pretty ridiculous.

Also, not enough of the relationship between the h and OM was revealed (you get an idea but there should have been more detail), you're never told anything about the h's father (considering her mother's behavior he was most likely a motivation for it), and you don't learn much of anything about the H's life during the years without the h, except that he switched careers.

Too much left out for me to give it another star.

That being said, this is one of those books that might have been good as a TV mystery/suspense movie.

A Baby's Cry by Amanda Stevens is a great romantic suspense. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Stevens has provided readers with a well-written book. The characters are outstanding. Dillon is a police detective. Taylor grew up wealthy and after her husband dies she turns to her ex, Dillon, for help. Dillon and Taylor's story is loaded with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Amanda Stevens in the future. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I read a print copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I normally don't read harlequin books but this one was given to me and sounded interesting so I gave it a go. It was actually interesting and it wasn't quite as predictable as I thought it would be.

A good (if predictable) secret baby story.
