The night grew stranger from there with the introduction of wine, cannabis and magic mushrooms. A memorable first and final night of life on the town for Bella Erdmann.   This short story serves as a prologue or direct lead-in to the novel, SHADOW OF THE SPARK

I really enjoyed reading this, it had everything that I was looking for from the description. The characters were what I was looking for from this type of book and it did everything that I was hoping for. It was a great start to the Mythic series. Adrian Santiago has a great writing style and it left me wanting to read more from them.

"Vandersey.” Baptiste looked at his own hand and shook his head, lowering it to his side. “You have to understand something before you accept; we’re throwing you in the deep end. You’ll have no detective to shadow for nine months like we’d normally do. No extensive training with your Det-Kit, no time to choose your CST carefully. What you get is what you get because we’re all scrambling.”
