A farm girl out in the big city. The drug dealing black sheep of the family. And a hippie chick guiding them on a mushroom trip. What could go wrong? (A Psychedelic Sci-Fi Short Story) Bella Erdmann's time had come. She was made to leave The Farm; the only home she'd ever known, for a full year of life in the wild city streets. The Spark, a moon-sized space station and home to the last of humanity, was a terrifying place for someone as naïve and uncultured as she. With nowhere else to turn, she settled for the drug-dealing black sheep of the family, her cousin Mitch, who immediately whisked her off in his hover-car to make a delivery to a hippie. The night grew stranger from there with the introduction of wine, cannabis and magic mushrooms. A memorable first and final night of life on the town for Bella Erdmann. This short story serves as a prologue or direct lead-in to the novel, SHADOW OF THE SPARK
Like his books, Adrian Santiago is made of a little bit of everything; The spice of the Caribbean Islands (BORICUA!); sharp edges from a childhood on the block in Buffalo, NY; some southern charm and a dose of crazy from the land of “Florida Man”; and a knack for drama born of comics punk rock music, and a love for stories.
Welcome to Books By Adrian. Here you’ll find a mix of sci-fi, fantasy, crime drama, thriller, mystery, romance and spice, with a diverse cast from all walks of life. Embark on his maiden voyage, the MYTHIC series, and discover the magic of Gaia and The Spark.
I really enjoyed reading this, it had everything that I was looking for from the description. The characters were what I was looking for from this type of book and it did everything that I was hoping for. It was a great start to the Mythic series. Adrian Santiago has a great writing style and it left me wanting to read more from them.
"Vandersey.” Baptiste looked at his own hand and shook his head, lowering it to his side. “You have to understand something before you accept; we’re throwing you in the deep end. You’ll have no detective to shadow for nine months like we’d normally do. No extensive training with your Det-Kit, no time to choose your CST carefully. What you get is what you get because we’re all scrambling.”
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
