Each of the four books in the "My Family" series (Blended Families, Single-Parent Families, Adoptive Families, Foster Families) features simple, repetative text. Each double-page spread has an engaging photograph of various family members accompanied by one or two sentences on the corresponding page. There is good representation of different ethnicities, and the single-parent volume features several dads enjoying time with their kids. Each of the volumes ends with the reassuring phrase that "members of --- love each other." Backmatter includes a glossary, index, suggested reading, and a link to websites via FactHound. Although families with same-sex parents are not included, this series provides a solid introduction to the wide variety of family structures seen in our society.

This book highlights different types of families. S/S: great book to use in a lesson on family structures within our community & all around the world. Character traits: unconditional love & acceptance. Art: can have students draw pictures and share stories about their own families.
This book explained specifically what a blended family was and who makes up a blended family. I can relate to this informational story because I have grown up in a blended family. It was not a lot of content but what was in the story was useful.
