The English Legal System: 2010-2011

Slapper and Kelly s The English Legal System explains and critically assesses how our law is made and applied. Annually updated, this authoritative textbook clearly describes the legal rules of England and Wales and their collective influence as a sociocultural institution.

The English Legal System greets a new decade by responding to the latest legislation and case law as well as providing new material on topics such as the new Supreme Court; the criminal justice system; the remodelled legal professions and human rights and European law. Further to this coverage, the book benefits from an increased level of cross-referencing with its highly acclaimed Companion Website.

Adopted by generations of students, Slapper and Kelly s The English Legal System is a permanent fixture in this ever evolving subject.

An excellent introduction art read for anyone looking to transition from practising law within a continental legal system to a common law-based one, in this case, England and Wales.

A fine introduction to the English legal system

Compared to a lot of other books you will first get this one is a breeze to read and guides you through the basics in no time. I got this on my first OU law course and found it really helped enhance and complement the course text.

I'd recommend this one over Harris any day!
